Dobgima Elvis Bonga, widely known as Lexus, was a respected businessman in Bali Nyonga, Mezam County.
He owned a popular bar and built a reputation as an entrepreneur, electronics technician, and import-export trader.
Family, friends, and customers remember him as hard-working, courageous, and committed to creating opportunities in his homeland.
On Sunday night, July 19, 2026, a power outage disrupted the area. Lexus switched on his generator so residents could watch the FIFA World Cup final at his business premises.
However, what began as a simple act of service ended in tragedy.
According to local sources, armed separatist fighters led by a commander identified as Kevin, also known as “General Mami,” entered the premises and opened fire.
The attackers fatally shot Lexus in the chest. Two other men seated beside him also sustained gunshot wounds.
Lexus died only hours before his 44th birthday.
His body now rests at the Bali General Hospital mortuary. Meanwhile, his family, friends, and the wider Bali community continue to mourn his death.
Many residents say Lexus chose to remain in Bali despite years of insecurity. They note that he invested in local businesses and created opportunities for others instead of leaving his hometown.
His death has left a painful void for his family. His elderly widowed mother, who reportedly suffers from high blood pressure and arthritis, has returned to bury the son she hoped would care for her in old age.
For many in Bali, the killing marks another painful reminder of the human cost of the continuing conflict across Ambazonia.
