Information about BaretaNews editorial standards, corrections and reader services. Updated 22 October 2026.
Editorial standards
BaretaNews covers Southern Cameroons, Ambazonia and world affairs from an openly stated editorial perspective. Our reporting should distinguish verified facts from allegations, attributed reports and opinion. Our perspective does not remove the responsibility to check important claims.
News reports should identify sources where possible, explain significant uncertainty and avoid invented quotations. Opinion and editorial articles express arguments and judgements and should be labelled accordingly. People and organisations facing serious allegations should have a fair opportunity to respond where practicable.
Images should be relevant, with captions and source credits where known. Illustrations and composites should be identified. Graphic material should be used only where it serves the public interest, with a warning and consideration for those depicted.
Corrections and complaints
To report a possible error, email info@bareta.news with the article address, the passage concerned and supporting information. Please say whether you seek a correction, clarification or right of reply.
We will review the material and the evidence supplied. Significant factual corrections should be explained in a dated note on the article. Updating an article does not, by itself, mean that every earlier claim has been independently reverified.
Privacy and reader information
BaretaNews is part of Bareta Media and Communications. Contact info@bareta.news for questions about personal information submitted through this website.
When you subscribe, your email address is processed through Jetpack and WordPress.com to confirm your subscription and deliver new articles according to your preferences. Subscription is free and separate from donations. You can unsubscribe or manage delivery using the links in subscription emails. Existing subscribers do not need to subscribe again.
If you contact us or leave a comment, the information you supply is used to deal with your message or contribution. Avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive personal information. WordPress, hosting, security, anti-spam and analytics services may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, visited pages and timestamps.
Jetpack Stats supplies aggregate readership reports, including visitor counts and approximate countries. A country estimate does not establish a reader’s identity or exact location. These reports are restricted to administrators.
Jetpack and WordPress.com are provided by Automattic. See Automattic’s privacy notice for its processing, retention and international-transfer information. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information we hold about you; we will assess the request and any applicable exceptions.
The site uses WordPress, Jetpack, security and advertising integrations. Cookies or similar technologies may be used for necessary functions, preferences, measurement and advertising. Use the website’s cookie controls where available and your browser settings to review or remove cookies. Restricting cookies can affect some functions.
External links, social platforms, embedded media and payment services have their own privacy and cookie policies. A link to an external service does not make its privacy practices those of BaretaNews. Subscription does not require a donation or payment card.
