Southern Cameroons State House

System-dependent and people-dependent democracies.

Dear Southern Cameroonians, western democracies are built on systems with clear roles and responsibilities for people to execute. That is why Belgium went for almost 2 years without a govt and no one ever noticed, the same reason why Trump can be president of USA without prior governing experience, why David Cameron can afford to resign a day after losing EU referendum in the UK. What they keep doing is reviewing their systems and identifying how they can make it even better. By so doing everyone becomes dispensable and that is a good thing for any nation.

African democracies (90%) are built on people. Because of the dependence on people, the system is unsustainable and it is one of the main reasons for corruption and lack of development. People re-define the rules and their roles to suit them and in their absence there can be absolute chaos. This is why regime change in Africa is bound to end very badly.

For about a month now the leaders of Southern Cameroon struggle have been involved (consciously or unconsciously) in a battle for power, ideas and strategies, leading their respective followers to form camps and start having an online fight with each other. This has gone from bad to worse and it is the main topic of discussion rather than the focus on the struggle. Make no mistake, we are shooting ourselves in the foot and the consequences can be catastrophic. If the real heros in Southern Cameroon hear that after they have sacrificed their children’s school year and their businesses and have lost loved ones in the name of the struggle, we are busy fighting each other, they will gradually lose their enthusiasm. If this should happen we can never expect them to give us another opportunity again.

This is what I am suggesting the leaders of this struggle should try out. It is difficult, it may or may not work, because it will require the leaders to put down their pride and ideas and all they have believed in over the years and take a new turn, a new approach, but I am convinced it will succeed with a bit of tweaking.

I challenge the leaders (eg Mark, Ivo, Tassang, Eyambe, Ayaba, Ebenezer, Boh Herbert, and all leaders and activist I have not mentioned) to organise a conference call . Discuss on how you can form a team, define a structure with various functions such as president, vice, SG, Spokesperson, treasurer, defence unit, etc like a professional organisation with one goal, liberation of Southern Cameroon. The leaders should accept that we have different options on the table and welcome all options including diplomacy, self defence, independence, federation, etc. These are all options we should be proud of and use them as leverage in the struggle. We should not feel any idea is the best and the other idea can never work.

When this is done, then we can define the roles and responsibilities for every function and nominate people. Then we can set up a system or database to register southern Cameroonians to vote who should occupy which role. We can deliberate about how we set up such a voting system. When the people of Southern Cameroon gets a democratic voice in who plays what role we win big. Here is why:

1) This is sort of unity will scare the govt, it will show we mean business. They will be short of ways to divide us. At the moment they can divide us based on our ideas, who we follow, etc.

2) More and more Southern Cameroonian will realise the seriousness of the struggle and join, very few will be left on the sideline.

3) It will be easier to rally support from the international community because they know we have a team. It will be difficult for a country to support us when we dont agree internally on working together. They will be asking the question: what will happen when they give us independence? another Libya? By forming a team we show the world that we are mature to evolve as a nation, we have come of age.

4) Our people will no longer form camps and fight each other because the leaders have been elected to their functions by the people. So anyone attacking a leader is attacking the people of Southern cameroon.

5) We can raise more funds to support our ideas and strategies. Nothing stop us from pursuing all options on the table simultaneously

6) Victory will be come a question of when and not if, it will come sooner than we thought.

7) Your suggestions will be highly appreciated

This is my suggestion to my people and it is up for debate and better ideas are welcome. I only want to see us look forward as one people, with one voice. If we want to build a system dependent democracy in a future Southern Cameroon, we need to show that by starting to work as a team amidst the diversity of our ideas.

  1. Eyong Egbe I totally agree with this brilliant opinion. In fact, I consider It a “Bright-Line Approach”. The divisiveness worth nothing.

  2. Brilliant idea. Please lets push it faward. This are the type of contributions we need at the moment , not in fighting.

  3. The umbrella organisation SCACUF is doing exactly that what is described above. I assume all the leaders are aware that they can win that fight in unity only. Therefore everybody shall throw his selfishness away. You do it not for yourself but for millions of Southern Cameroonians.

  4. He (Eying Egbe) started well but towards the end he mentioned fedralism and that word put a bad taste in my mouth. Southern Cameroons/Ambazonia total independence is my mission and no compromise.

  5. I think that for us to move forward, active southern Cameroonian through the one group like SCACUF, should vote for either independence or federation. After this we seat down and write concrete reason as to why we want independence or federation. Because the international communities do not live in Cameroon with us so they can’t feel what we feel. This points will drive their decision in favour of our cries and pleas. Focus at this point is what we need. Federation comes with its consequences, independence alike. So we have to critically think together with intellectual minds for which choice to go with. Nothing is impossible. What makes the difference is the sacrifice involve. Call me bluestar for security reasons.

  6. Anyone who mentions Federalism is either mad in the head or has LRC roots and hiding behind their Ambazonian father’s name to fool us that they are one of us or speaking for us. These type folks don’t speak for us. No love for LRC. Our only neighbor is Nigeria and only then shall thy love thy as thy self.

  7. One System,
    Money
Multiple coordinated Actions, activity, … for the same common aim, goal.

Any other thing is just a waste of out people time. One can not divide a thing to make it whole, impossible.

    Absolutely no federalism,
that is worse that what we have now. Statehood restoration at least only.

    The word federalism,
the definition of the word federalism and
the organic reality lived by humans that is referenced through the word federalism
are three totally independent different things. Never ever allow a word or its definition to direct or govern your knowing of something.
If these crazy ass lunatics can’t organically live peace, respect, order … in the minds, what in the hell makes us thing the will organically live federalism into tangible physical reality?
If you want anything in words or definition sure they will give it to you and then turn around and live into tangible physical reality savagery, and there we go, no more back at where we start, but even worse in the ass of the beast. For now we are somewhere on its head or back.
This thing is not about federalism or what so ever, its about going the hell away from a country whose leaders can not be civilized. No low in creation can change human behavior, only the entity exhibiting the behavior can change it itself. LRC is ran by a gang of lunatics, even their own blood they care less.

    To hell with them.

  8. That’s a very brilliant idea,it’s high time we came under one thinking cap. Let’s not be shorting ourselves in the leg it makes us weaker,we all have a common enemy all our energy should be focus on that enemy rather than fighting for positions. A general election is most welcome so that there should be transparency and accountability. If we can do this, than we should rest assured that we soon succeed.when we are divided like this our enemies are very happy and they think that we don’t know what we are doing, and that we are not yet mature to rule ourselves.

  9. I hate to say this,as i have been observing and reading comments from all parties, those who want a federation and those who are up for independence.we don’t have the resources and unity required to obtain independence right now.it is bitter, but I must say it so that we stop dreaming, and start looking up to what is achievable”federation”. Lets wake up and look around us,and around the world.examples abound of ultimate sacrifices for vain causes.its one thing to sit some where and command a ssituation, and its another thing to be actually involved.a revolution cause money, and need diehards we have neither right now.federation is what is achievable, and that’s what we should focus on ,and stop this wild goose chase of independence.Biafra failed,E T A in Spain just gave up everything after all the lost of lives, for what results? There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be independent, but we must be realistic.in my personal experience,i have been through enough stupid wars to know what is doable and what is not. Courage peace and love, and my sympathies to all who have lost love ones and properties in this struggle,it wasn’t in vain,we will get there someday.

  10. THIS IS IT PEOPLE….THIS IS IT. Brilliant idea from this bro. Yes, SCACUF or even morrisc are talking about this but it has not been so clearly articulated. Plus, the idea of putting systems in place and actually voting is brilliant and new…let’s get on with this people, open, clear and transparent. Plus it stops being about individuals, but about ideas, system, into which the ‘best-fits’ could be plug in at any time, whether their names are x, y, z or Ivo, Wilfred, Herbert etc.
    Brilliant. Thanks.
