BaretaNews can now confirm that Post graduate students who were supposed to meet with the Vice Chancellor, Horace Ngomo Manga in the University of Buea on Wednesday August 23rd, 2017 in Amphi 250 could not contained their anger as they met instead with the Director of Students affairs who happened to be a Camerounese (Francophone).

Information reaching BaretaNews says the Director of students affairs who could not express himself in English pleaded to speak in French. This caused a commotion as the post graduate students rained insults on him as all walking out of the Amphi 250 meeting hall . The new VC has been out to subdue students anger so as to avoid any uprisings after meeting with few undergraduate students on Campus. This time it was the turn for postgraduate students but he failed to show up and rather sent his Deputy Vice chancellor, Prof Lucy Ndip who also failed to appear.

The Deputy VC in turned sent the director of students affairs who met his waterloo as his grammar was so poor so much so that he could not face the students to speak. He pleaded to address the post graduate students in French. The students with the burning anger of the absence of the VC or his vice and other issues affecting them and thinking that someone will speak to them in French, a colonial language in UB rained insults on the Director of Students Affairs, a francophone who just like other Francophone lecturers in UB have been sent to Frenchify the Anglo-Saxon universities. We are told the scene became chaotic as the post graduate students chanted slogans such as ” one for all, all for one, echoing the University of Buea Students’ Union (UBSU) Motto, free southern Cameroons, not in this our capital Buea, You will not succeed to frenchify us” The panic known Central Administration saw helplessly as the students staged a walk out of the raining insults on UB administrators as they looked on.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Higher Education Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo who recently made series of appointments in Universities across the Cameroons, in preparation for the supposed reopening of the 2017/2018 academic school year appointed Dr. EBELLE Thierry Christophe, Head of the Chemistry Department, who died in the month of March, as Chief Program Officer. Also on the list published on Monday August 21st, 2017 , the Minister appointed late Mr. SIDDI Tengeleng, as Head of Information and Telecommunications Department at the University of Maroua. Not forgetting his friend Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa, Minister of Medium size enterprises appointed as head of department in University of Yaoundé. These are all signs of a dying regime and high level corruption within the Universities set up. A more reason Southern Cameroons must separate from such a porous system.

We continue to caution that there is a tacit plan to Franchophonised Southern Cameroons Education and its institutions. It beats our understanding how a students affairs director cannot express himself very well in English in an Anglo Saxon University. SYNES and UB lecturers who were fast to call off the strike should see the hand writing clear on the walls. Already, those recently appointed in the University of Buea and Bamenda are appointed with a mission to harmonise the University Education with that of French Cameroon. This must be fiercely rejected. The few students in UB Campus effectively going to school should fall back. There is total cacophony already with one year already lost.
