Batonier Akere Muna it’s clear that you fully understand the problem. You have lived with these folks in power all your life. I am sure you know that the problem is not whether they understand the problem. They do. The problem is not that they don’t know what is to be done to make sure every Cameroonian is treated fairly by the system. They do! They know all these. The problem is that they have decided to treat some group of people as lesser citizens and this was from day one of the union! They used all the methods available including threats to his life to coerced your father to participate in the annexation of West Cameroon.
The problems you have listed in the write up are more than half a century old. We, both French speaking and English speaking Cameroonians, have been living in a State of Emergency for more than half a century and counting. The impact is more than double on Anglophones because they were classified from the beginning as captive and therefore lesser citizens and have been treated as such. Nobody is interested in their education. You know how long it took for a university to be approved in this region of the country. You know it has always been the intention of the state to destroy our educational system and we had to fight to save the GCE. So now whether we go to school or not is not their problem. Do you think it could have like this if the school boycott affected any of the French speaking regions?
The issues raised by the lawyers and teachers would be addressed had it been this was in any of our French speaking regions. How many of your learned French speaking colleagues are as concerned as you are in this state of affairs? You think they don’t know what’s going on and what the solutions are? It’s because it’s more an Anglophone Problem – the policies are designed to put them behind the line in all areas! They are the ones who suffer humiliation from the hands of the Francophones who feel like superior to the Anglophones! The problems facing our nation is man-made and deliberate. Until those same people see that it’s wrong and evil and decide to change course nothing would happen.
We can write and write about it but it would remain an essay – nothing would change. As you rightly pointed out something might appear on a paper as proposed solutions and we shall have to wait indefinitely to see any realization of any proposals. You guys, the lawyers and law makers decided to concentrate ALL powers in the hands on one man! This is what you get. The Supreme Court of the land is working for one man! The parliament is working for one man! The military is working for one man! And all these is engineered by France who quasi owns the country! We rarely point fingers at France who was the architect of the annexation of West Cameroon.
The problems in Cameroon would be fully addressed only if French will give the instructions. This is simply the pure fact. Any normalcy in Cameroon will affect France’s interest drastically. This is the bottom line and the true virus. We always address the symptoms of this virus which are the consequences of France’s policies in Africa and no real focus to eliminating the virus.
