A section of the road linking Foundong in Boyo County to Bamenda has become impassable. Consequently, passengers and traders face serious difficulties daily.
The crisis has also affected farmers. Farm produce often rots before reaching Bamenda because transportation has become increasingly difficult.
Vehicles from Bamenda now stop at Koini, where the road is badly damaged. Passengers must then carry themselves and their belongings across the impassable section.
On the other side, cars and motorcycles wait to transport them to their destinations. Those travelling from the opposite direction face the same ordeal at Koini.
As a result, movement along the Foundong road has slowed considerably. The situation has also made transporting people and goods increasingly difficult.
Transport fares continue to rise as the road deteriorates. Meanwhile, travelling through the area has become exhausting for passengers and drivers.
Residents accuse the colonial regime of abandoning the road while its soldiers allegedly continue collecting money from drivers and passengers.
The population is now crying out for urgent intervention. They are calling on local authorities to act before the situation worsens.
