Albertine Bomnyuy, Fabrice “Tenkay,” and Emile were targeted in an attack behind PMI Hospital in Mile 2 Nkwen
The three civilians from Bui Division in the North West Region were killed in a shooting incident in Bamenda II Subdivision, Mezam Division in the North West Region, on the afternoon of Monday, September 14, 2026.
The victims have been identified as Albertine Bomnyuy, Fabrice, popularly known as Tenkay, and Emile.
BaretaNews gathered that Albertine and Fabrice came under attack behind PMI Hospital in Mile 2 Nkwen, where they were shot dead on the spot.
Emile, who was also wounded in the attack, was rushed to the PMI hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.
Local reports have blamed the attack on unknown gunmen. The circumstances leading to the shooting, however, remain unclear, and the allegations have not been independently verified.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing renewed concern over the safety of civilians in and around Bamenda.
Albertine’s death has particularly touched those who knew her. She was a widow and mother of three who had returned to the area from Banso a few months ago after her husband was also killed.
She made a living through petty trading, selling Irish potatoes and eggs to support her children.
Her death means three children have now lost their mother, while two other families are also mourning the loss of their loved ones.
The latest killings add to growing concerns over the continued exposure of civilians to violence in Bamenda and other conflict-affected communities in the Northwest Region.
