The journey from Kumba to Bamenda is taking a fresh twist. It is a normalcy for those plying the roads, to come in contact with the Ambazonian Restoration Forces. Lucky enough, cognisance of the protection of their fellow Ambazonians, the soldiers carry out routine checks on the existences of Camerounese forces, but don’t touch any passenger.
The story recounted by a passenger whose bus was intercepted by the Ambazonia army, is one of true hope. A people destine to protect their fatherland by cleaning up any foreign body.
Herman, 31, a denizen from Bamenda whose bus was intercepted by Amba forces, says the adrenaline flow that characterised meeting them, was one with fright and flight. In an exclusive chat with BaretaNews, the Amba denizen who was en-route to Kumba from Bamenda, says their Bus was stopped by Amba forces, who showed signs of protecting their own.
“We were stopped at around Konye by some seven hefty and wild looking men. They asked all of us to step down, and requested we all identified ourselves while we went back into the bus. They said no Camerounese soldier was permitted to ply the Bamenda-Kumba road, reason why they had to do a scrutiny,” Herman narrated.
Herman also indicated that the Amba forces told every passenger in the bus to cooperate with them so all illegal occupiers of the Ambaland, will be completely eradicated.
“They gave a 3 minutes lecture, saying they are fighting for us. The strong looking men said we all should help them so that all colonial forces of LRC can be wiped out. We were all excited and chanted the Ambazonian anthem together,” Herman continued.
For continuity of their activities, the Amba soldiers solicited for goodwill donation from all in the bus, indicating that the money will be used to facilitate their activities.
“They pleaded with us to help the course by giving anything we had. They however made it clear that no one is forced to make any gesture. According to them, any money giving is voluntary and will graciously help the course. God heavenly knows. We could individually raise 85,000. They guys were so grateful, leaving us with a message of gratitude and cautioned us to stay clear of Camerounese activities,” Herman elucidated.
Herman went ahead to say the itinerary from Bamenda to Buea, is characterised by burning down of 3 timber trucks. According to him, the trucks were burnt down by Amba forces, in agitation of Camerounese stealing all the resources of Ambazonia.
“We saw 3 trucks burnt down between Manyemen and Nguti. The vehicles were burned by Amba soldiers, saying they want to stop LRC from exploiting our forests and natural resources. We got that 3 LRC soldiers were killed in the process of burning down the trucks. We also so two LRC security checkpoints shattered to ground level. The Nguti gendarmerie post has been deserted by LRC forces, for fear of imminent attacks from Amba soldiers,” Herman said.
It should be noted that since December 2017, there has been serious fighting between the Ambazonian Restoration Forces and the colonial forces of Cameroun. Though LRC soldiers use artillery to bombard villages around there and sending several people on exile to neighbouring Nigeria, the forces of Ambazonia, have succeeded in neutralising LRC soldiers, rendering the areas, habitable again.
