The people of Ambazonia are once more witnessing what many are describing as a shocking political somersault after Ngong, popularly known as Capo Daniel, made controversial remarks targeting Amba fighters operating in Mezam County, particularly in Bafut and surrounding villages.

In a statement circulated by colonial regime media outlets, including the so-called Cameroon News Agency, the former hardline supporter of the Ambazonian Defense Forces (ADF) reportedly urged civilians to collaborate with La République du Cameroun occupation forces by exposing the locations of self-defense camps in areas such as Nfoya in Bafut. His remarks have triggered widespread anger and disbelief across the Ambazonian community at home and in Ground Zero.

According to the statement, Capo Daniel allegedly called on local civilians to assist colonial soldiers in identifying and raiding camps belonging to restoration forces. He further accused Amba fighters of causing hardship to civilians, though many observers noted that he provided no evidence to support such claims. Critics argue that the hardships faced by civilians in Ground Zero stem primarily from the continued occupation, military raids, village burnings, unlawful arrests, and the systematic violence carried out by French Cameroun forces across Ambazonia.

The statement has left many Southern Cameroonians questioning whether Capo Daniel’s sudden rhetoric is driven by fear, frustration, or an outright cross-carpeting into the camp of the Yaoundé regime. For years, the former activist positioned himself as a vocal defender of the Ambazonian resistance, making his latest comments appear to many as a complete betrayal of the liberation struggle.

Several activists and supporters of the restoration movement believe the former ADF voice is struggling to remain politically relevant after gradually losing influence within the movement. Others say his recent posture reflects attempts to seek favor from regime barons in Yaoundé by publicly attacking the same resistance groups he once defended passionately.

Across social media circles and activist forums, many Ambazonians have condemned the remarks as reckless and dangerous, warning that encouraging civilians to expose self-defense camps places innocent lives at greater risk amid the ongoing conflict in Ground Zero. For many, the liberation struggle remains rooted in protecting the people of Ambazonia from colonial aggression, not surrendering communities to the occupation forces.

While Capo Daniel has not officially clarified or denied the widely circulated statement, the controversy surrounding his remarks continues to deepen divisions and fuel debate within the Ambazonian movement over loyalty, sacrifice, and the future direction of the resistance.
