Since the passing of Robert Mugabe, the Founding Father of Zimbabwe’s Independence, there has been mixed reactions across the world on his legacy. Some consider him as a hero, others a bloody dictator. Dr. Ebenezer Akwanga, one of Ambazonia Leaders sitting abroad and fighting for the independence of his own country has said Robert Mugabe should not be celebrated. He says Mugabe must be seen for who he truly was, a hero who turned a tyrant and murderer of his own people. Below is the full statement from Akwanga

MY TAKE ON ROBERT MUGABE: FOUGHT HEROIC, RULED TYRANNICALLY, DIED A BUTCHER OF HIS OWN PEOPLE AFTER DIVIDING THOSE HE ‘FOUGHT’ TO UNITE!

If the end justifies the means then, the Robert Mugabe who died is the one in which millions of Zimbabweans will never want to remember. This Mugabe is not the one who fought alongside Joshua Nkomo to stop Ian Smith and his racist regime

This man took advantage of his Bush War heroism to turn himself into a Republican King. Don’t praise him! Condemn him and his family greed and excesses to the detriment of millions of his people – especially those whom he slaughtered unperturbed from Matabeleland ‘Mthwakazi Kingdom’ through the Gukurahundi Massacre.

Mugabe, just like Ahmed Sekou Toure, Ahmadou Babatoura Ahidjo, Jomo Kenyatta…are men who encouraged and lived the ‘I-was-in-struggle-mentality’, so it’s time to Lord it over the rest. Mama Africa is awashed with these conmen who were heroes for a day and deadening tyrants for a lifetime! Oh yes they were good in looking for scapegoats when their brutal republican kingship could no longer withstand the torrents of change. Robert Mugabe should be remembered truly for who he was: a hero turned tyrant and murderer of his own people.

Dr. Ebenezer Akwanga
