At least three LRC soldiers were reportedly killed after Ambazonian fighters attacked a military convoy near Muyuka. The incident occurred Saturday morning in the Southern Zone.
According to local sources, the soldiers had departed Kumba, the capital of Meme County. Their convoy reportedly came under heavy fire around Muyuka.
Sources said Ambazonian fighters ambushed the vehicle as it moved through the area. The ensuing exchange of gunfire reportedly lasted nearly 15 minutes.
At least three soldiers were reportedly killed during the confrontation. Several others reportedly sustained injuries and were evacuated from the scene.
One of those reportedly killed was said to be a recently recruited soldier. Local sources said he was below 20 years old, although his age could not be independently confirmed.
The reported casualties come less than three weeks after the killing of General Sagad. He was a prominent commander associated with restoration fighters in Fako.
The latest incident has fueled speculation that tensions remain high following Sagad’s death. However, BaretaNews could not independently establish whether the attack was carried out as retaliation.
The confrontation further reflects the continuing armed conflict across the Southern Zone. Civilians in Muyuka and surrounding communities remain exposed to the consequences of the violence.
