Brenda Biya, daughter of French Cameroun’s long-serving ruler Paul Biya, has once again sparked widespread concern after publishing a disturbing message on social media that appeared to suggest she is enduring severe emotional distress.
In the post published on Sunday, Brenda shared a photograph of a handwritten note placed above a bed. The note contained the word “Suicide!!!!” while the accompanying caption simply read “Torture…” She offered no explanation for the message’s meaning or the circumstances surrounding it, leaving followers deeply worried about her well-being.
The cryptic publication quickly attracted reactions across social media, with many users urging those close to Brenda to check on her welfare and ensure that she receives the care and support she may need. As of press time, she had not issued any follow-up statement explaining the post.
The latest development follows a series of previous public messages in which Brenda Biya has repeatedly alleged that she has been subjected to mistreatment, emotional suffering and restrictions on her freedom. In several earlier posts, she claimed she was being “tortured” and expressed profound emotional pain, prompting growing concern from observers both within French Cameroun and abroad.
Her repeated public expressions of distress have also fuelled calls for empathy rather than political point-scoring. While Paul Biya’s regime remains widely accused of gross human rights violations, including atrocities committed against the people of Ambazonia, many commentators have maintained that Brenda should be judged as an individual and not solely through the actions of her father or his regime.
