Donald Trump is US Presidential candidate for the Republican Party. He has established himself as the anti-establishment candidate. One could say he happens to be one of the most controversial candidates in US history. He is running against Hillary Clinton who has had over 25 years of experience in Administration. Trump is a business mogul and had said so many controversial statements during the course of his campaigns that has set some Republicans against him. Donald Trump is not doing very well with the Minorities especially the African-American bloc which has come to be an important voting bloc in the US elections.
Most polling within the last weeks put Donald Trump at 1 percent of the black vote, in fact , Reuters Poll last week saw Trump polling 0 percent within the Black bloc. However, this seems to be changing.
Within the last weeks, with a new campaign team after the resignation of Paul Manifort, Trump has stayed on message, he uses Teleprompters to deliver his message and has tripled his outreach efforts woe Blacks votes. Trump message to the Black community has been about the Economy, School, Security, all of which Trump asserts the Blacks are doing very poorly under President Obama-an African American ( Black) president himself. Donald Trump in his outreach keeps reminding the black community about what the hell do they have to lose if they vote for him as President? He sounded sounds of warning bells to the Blacks that the Democrats have been seeing them only as a voting bloc and not as humans.
Last week, Trump had a Meeting in a Detroit Black Church with African-Americans where he was designated with a Jewish garment. The community deeply welcomed him despite some African-Americans and people of colour protesting.
Trump’s outreach approach seems to be working as much has been made in the media in recent days about Trump’s outreach to blacks. Trump now earns 19% support among black voters. Sixty-three percent (63%) still favor Clinton. It should be recalled that this is a major turning point for Donald Trump, someone whom as of last week was having only 1 percent.
The survey was conducted by Rasmussen Reports of 1,000 Likely Voters between September 6-7, 2016. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
However, the same polling shows Clinton with 43% support to Donald Trump’s 39% nationally. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson gets nine percent (9%) of the vote, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein earns two percent (2%). Another two percent (2%) like some other candidate and five percent (5%) are undecided.
It should be noted that Trump does not need much of the Black vote to win the Presidency, he only needs to make sure he denies Hillary Clinton much of the Black votes and keeps her below 90 percent. Already, according to the recent polling, he is doing very well. It is evident that if Trump keeps on talking to the Black community, his message will keep on resonating within the black community cutting off a major bloc loyal to Hillary Clinton.
God is still saying something.
