Patients Protest In Yaounde: Our Life Is At Risk

Published

Patients with renal problems have staged a sit down at the Yaounde General Hospital. Some of the patients are decrying the fact for weeks they have been deprived of this very important medical procedure,a situation which keeps their life at great risk.

Most of the twenty machines within the hemodialysis centre are currently out of use. According to the angry patients, only seven are currently functional. To make a bad situation worse they claim that the room for the oxygenated water needed for dialysis is also out of use.

The protest began in the early hours of this Monday 10th October 2016. The forces of law and order are presently observing the peaceful demonstration. It is worth noting that, the government through a number of actions have provided greater access to dialysis for patients who need it.

Hemodialysis centres have been created in a number of regional headquarters and the cost of the procedure is presently been subsidised by the government.
