Muyuka Horror: Innocent Farmers Tortured by Colonial Forces After Ambazonia Resistance Strike

Pain and trauma still grip farming communities in Muyuka Local Government Area (LGA), Southern Zone of Ambazonia, after a brutal crackdown by French Cameroun colonial forces left several innocent civilians severely tortured and emotionally scarred.
The victims, mostly local farmers, are reportedly paying a bloody price for a military ambush that occurred earlier this week in Ekata, a locality within Muyuka. According to eyewitnesses and local sources, Ambazonian freedom fighters carried out a surprise attack on a colonial military vehicle, eliminating two regime soldiers and leaving others injured.
In response, colonial reinforcements stormed the area and unleashed terror on unarmed civilians.
“They came while we were still working in the farms. Others were on their way home,” one of the affected farmers told BaretaNews. “They accused us of planning the attack and beat us mercilessly.”
Farmers were arbitrarily arrested, shoved into military trucks, and subjected to hours of violent interrogation and torture—despite having no links to the incident. Most of the victims were only released nearly 48 hours later, battered, bruised, and psychologically broken.
“They told us we would pay for the deaths of their colleagues,” another victim recounted, still nursing injuries on his back and legs.
Human rights observers in the region have condemned the crackdown, calling it a gross violation of international law and a stark reminder of the oppressive nature of Cameroun’s colonial occupation.
This incident is yet another grim example of the collective punishment tactics routinely employed by Yaoundé’s military forces, who continue to target innocent Ambazonian civilians in their desperate attempts to suppress the ongoing resistance.
BaretaNews stands with the people of Muyuka and calls on international bodies to investigate these atrocities and hold the perpetrators accountable.
