EXPOSED: NASLA Students Reveal CPDM Regime Coerced Them into Faking Support for Biya Campaign

Nearly three weeks after pro-regime media splashed headlines claiming that youth in Buea raised five million CFA francs in support of Paul Biya’s re-election bid, disturbing revelations have surfaced, debunking the narrative as political theater.
In a courageous interview with BaretaNews, a student from the National School of Local Administration (NASLA) in Buea has come forward to denounce what he called “a staged drama,” orchestrated by top regime figures to deceive the public and project false youth support for the 92-year-old dictator.
“We were forced to attend. We were told to clap, smile, and act happy—or risk losing our matricule,” the student lamented.
According to the source, not only were NASLA students coerced into attending the event, but they were also paid a mere 1,000 CFA francs—barely enough for a meal. The student, whose identity is protected for security reasons, reported that many of them were exhausted and overwhelmed after being made to stand under the scorching sun for hours.
“Some students complained to the MP for Buea Urban that the 1,000 francs was an insult. That’s when he added another 1,000 CFA, like we were beggars,” the source recounted bitterly.
The Member of Parliament in question, Malomba Esembe, who also lectures administrative law at NASLA, was reportedly at the center of the scheme. The whistleblower claimed that Malomba worked hand-in-glove with Minister Nalova Lyonga—a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea turned regime loyalist—and other CPDM militants to mobilize NASLA students, random roadside arrests, and even young detainees to pose as enthusiastic supporters.
The revelations confirm BaretaNews’ earlier suspicions that the event was nothing more than a fabricated display of loyalty aimed at feeding the regime’s propaganda machine. Far from being a genuine act of patriotism, what transpired in Buea appears to have been a coordinated act of political manipulation, using vulnerable youth as pawns.
This disturbing incident once again exposes the deep-rooted culture of coercion, deception, and exploitation that defines the Biya regime’s desperate hold on power.
