Colonial Soldiers Celebrate After Narrowly Escaping Bomb Attack in Kumbo

Kumbo, Ambazonia – A group of colonial soldiers narrowly escaped death earlier this week after a roadside bomb, allegedly planted by Ambazonian freedom fighters, exploded near their position in Tobin, Kumbo.
According to local sources, the incident occurred shortly after the Bui Unity Warriors, a renowned pro-independence group, hoisted the Ambazonian flag at a colonial brigade in Tobin. In a strategic move to trap regime forces, the warriors reportedly planted an improvised explosive device (IED) near the site, anticipating that soldiers would attempt to remove the flag.
When colonial Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) forces arrived to take down the symbol of resistance, the bomb detonated. One soldier was reportedly injured, but no fatalities were recorded.
Despite the close call, sources within the community have confirmed that some of the soldiers involved have been seen celebrating their survival—an unusual display of relief in what is typically a high-tension conflict zone.
The use of homemade explosive devices has become a common tactic among Ambazonian fighters since the outbreak of the war for independence in 2017. These tactics are designed not only to inflict damage but to send a message of resistance and continued defiance against the occupying regime.
The recent operation in Kumbo is being hailed by freedom fighters as another successful act of resistance in the fight to liberate Ambazonia from colonial domination.
“This is a clear sign that the spirit of the revolution remains unbroken,” a local pro-independence supporter told BaretaNews. “All we ask from our people is their support—moral, material, and spiritual—to accelerate the flames of freedom.”
As the war for self-determination enters its eighth year, incidents like these underline both the resilience of the resistance movement and the ever-present danger facing regime forces operating in Ambazonian territory.
