On Friday the March 10th 2017, the Constitutional Court in South Korea unanimously ruled to formally end impeached Park’s presidency for an alleged corruption scandal that has pushed the country into political turbulence.

The court’s ruling caused violent protests from Park’s supporters. As reported by Aljazeera, two of her supporters finally succumbed to their wounds following clashes with police outside the building in downtown Seoul, according to authorities. Also, dozens of protesters and police officers were wounded. Contrarily, thousands of other South Koreans occupied a square in the capital to celebrate Park’s dismissal.




Following the Constitutional court’s ruling Park’s immunity as a president was withdrawn, up to possible criminal proceedings. Meanwhile, prosecutors have already named her a criminal suspect.
