“We the teacher’s trade unions and associations of Anglophone extraction – SYNES-UB, CATTU, TAC, PEATTU,CEWOTU,BATTUC and parents, under the banner of UPTA hereby declare an indefinite strike action beginning on Monday 21 November 2016. During this strike, there shall be a definite shutdown of all schools, public, private and confessional; from the nursery,primary,secondary to the university under the English sub-system until definite steps are taken by the government to stop the plunder of Anglophone education.”
This is the declaration made by All Teachers Trade Unions and Associations of Anglophone Extraction on October 26th, 2016.
The teachers are clearly frustrated after their cries have been ignored on a number of times by the minister of higher education professor Fame Ndongo and the Prime Minister and Head of Government Philemon Yang. The teachers had on December 13th, 2015 and January 4th2016 tabled a catalog of complaints amongst which are;
• The withdrawal and re-posting of all French-speaking teachers from Anglophone classrooms with the exception of bilingual teachers.
• The withdrawal of francophone lecturers and administrators from Anglo-Saxon universities of Bamenda and Buea and their colleges of education.
• The recruitment of competent Anglophones to teach in various departments of colleges and faculties of the university of Bamenda.
• The withdrawal and re-orientation of all francophones reading English modern letters in Higher Teachers training college Bambili and other schools of education in Cameroon to departments where they have an academic background.
To all these, they also asked for, amongst others;
The deployment of Anglophone teachers sent to francophone colleges
The immediate halt of the practice of sending francophone student teachers to practice on Anglophone students.
The immediate stoppage of CAP, PROBATOIRE TECHNIQUE and BACCALAUREAT TECHNIQUE from the English sub-system.
The creation of the Cameroon National council and Le ConseilNational de L’education du Cameroun (CNC/CNEC)
The institution of a mandatory one-year industrial attachment program for trainees of the Higher Technical Teacher’s Training College Bambili and Kumba.
It has been 10 months running with no prime ministerial commission created as promised by the minister of Higher Education who co-chaired the meeting held in Yaounde on January 4th, 2016. Instead, they have been ignored totally and their plight has intensified by an increased number of Francophone teachers posted to teach Anglophone children. Entrance into HTTTC Kumba and Bambili is still open to Francophones to the near-total exclusion of Anglophones.
In June 2016 they wrote to the prime minister reiterating their position and demanding for a more transparent management of admission into medical and other professional schools in the universities of Bamenda and Buea where Anglophone students are numerically marginalised and where heroes of the Cameroon GCE with above 20 points have no place while six points students sit comfortably in medical schools. One cannot help but see reason as to the incompetence of most medical doctors sent on the field today.
None of their demands have been met, rather there is an overtly intensified devious machination to wreak havoc on Anglophones and their sub-system of education thereby pushing them to the fringes of social and educational advancement.
It is in the face of this lamentable situation whereby Anglophones are continuously denigrated,subjugated and treated as a colonised people while children are groomed for slavery, that these associations have together declared an indefinite strike action while urging the government NOT to use their machinery of force to provoke any stakeholder or carry out any action that might lead to loss of life and/or property.
Parents in the North and Southwest regions are also very strongly urged to keep their children at home for the duration of the strike.
It is safe to say that teachers have had enough of this educational genocide inflicted on the Anglophone sub-system of education.
We of BaretaNews endorse this move of the teachers.

Enough is enough for La Republique to be playing with the intelligence of English speaking Cameroonians
Until #SCEXIT occurs, we will forever be marginalized and treated as second class citizens on our own land. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of La Republique’s fuckery.
BRITISH CAMEROON IS THE “ONLY” FORMER UN TRUST TERRITORY THAT IS NOT AN INDEPENDENT NATION STATE TODAY IN CLEAR VIOLATION OF UN STRINGENT END-OF-COLONIZATION LAWS AND PROCEDURES. ALL OTHERS GAINED INDEPENDENCE FROM THE UN OR MERGED WITH OTHER TRUST TERRITORY PRIOR TO INDEPENDENCE
FRANCE GAVE FRANCOPHONE INDEPENDENCE ON JAN. 01.1960 WHILE THE BRITISH COLONIAL GOVERNOR IN BUEA WAS STILL GOVERNING ANGLOPHONES.
THE FRANCOPHONE CAMEROON MAP SUBMITTED TO THE UN FOR INDEPENDENCE DOES NOT INCLUDE ANGLOPHONE CAMEROON. THEIR FLAG WAS GREEN RED YELLOW WITH ONE STAR AND THEIR NAME – LA REPUBLIC DE LA CAMEROUN JUST LIKE NOW
SO THIS “LA CAMEROUN” UN INDEPENDENT STATE BECAME OUR NEW COLONIAL MASTERS AND MANAGING US AND OUR RESOURCES TILL THIS DAY. THIS FORCED ASSIMILATION AND THE SYSTEMATIC ERADICATION OF ANGLOPHONES HAS BEEN WELL CALCULATED AND THE PLAN IS ACTIVELY IN FULL EXECUTION GEAR
IT IS INTERESTING THAT THE FORMER SEC. GENERAL OF THE PRESIDENCY AND NOW MINISTER OF TRANSPORT SAID A FEW YEARS AGO THAT ANY ANGLOPHONE WHO IS NOT HAPPY SHOULD CARRY HIS BELONGINGS AND MOVE OVER TO NIGERIA .
The official language of Southern Cameroon is English and if you are an official, Governor, (S) D.O, Police, Physician, Teacher etc and cannot speak and use it, then you have to pack and leave. Think about this; I had a transaction in a bank in Buea, I mean Buea, BICEC to be exact and all the documents handed to me were in French. Do you remember your last encounter with a Police or Gendarme? ‘Je ne comprends pas ton Anglais la’, should be echoing in your head… It should be noted that even our Anglophone brothers and sisters in the force refuse to speak to you in English. It’s now time to say goodbye to La Republique du Cameroun.
This is a very good action which I support in every way and all the way. I understand that several Anglophones are in government and are tight lip to even conderm the epic violence that ensued in Bamenda and Buea resulting to the loss of lives and colossal destruction of property.However or what ever the situation, I hope, wish and pray that these sceptics should see a Devine and direct of the course of change. Change is coming to Cameroon . This will never be the same again. The hard fact and truth is that the bond between La Republique and Sourthern Cameroon has been shattered and will NEVER be restored. We the Independent Southern Cmaerronians will issue visa to La Republique dwellers to enter our territory if we like or want to. Those Anglophones in La Republique government have a choice to resign now as part of the sacrifice millions of children are making to not join their imperialist and gangster regime. As a matter of fact, if any Anglophone freedom fighter dies in the course of this fight as a direct cause of any La Republique conspiracy, there will be very severe consequences. Uncontainable Consequences that will affect La Republique for generations to come. Southern Cameroon independence is close and we are just waiting to install our government when the time comes. A stitch in time saves nine.
Enjoyed examining this, very good stuff, thankyou. Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish. by Euripides. edfbgecdcaaeegga
