The Cameroon is ranked 17th in the classification of African countries using Facebook. The data released by Facebook shows over one million Cameroonians are using Facebook. 620,000 are men (64%), and 340 000 of them (36%) are women.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg noted that Cameroonian youth are those who are most interested in social media. 170 000 subscribers are between the ages of 13 and 19 years, 17%; 440 000 between the ages of 18 and 25 years (46%). People with 35 years and above are only 156,000 people (16.25%).

The ranking is dominated by Egypt, South Africa, Morocco and Nigeria. However, the social network is attracting more and more companies.

BaretanNews thinks more Cameroonians can reach Facebook. With the access of smartphones and availability of networks, Facebook could be a major tool of Change in the Cameroons. We are already seeing a glimpse of hope as of now with the use of social media. There are some indicators that social media is having an effect in the Cameroons. This will change if more and more persons own a smartphone which is readily available, we think something great can come out of it with millions of Cameroonians on social media.

God is still saying something.
