Turkish Company to build 141 Billion CFA Sport Complex

The regime of Paul Biya is set to build Cameroun largest sporting complex. This will host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019. The complex is set to hold 50.000 seat stadium, a sports hall, an Olympic swimming pool, a handball court, gym, a large pool, two training courts, tennis courts, an annex of the national Football Academy, a shopping center and landscaped areas. This was made known by the state paper Cameroon Tribune.

A Turkish company has been designated to carry on this project. The project is expected to cost $240 million ( approximately 141 Billion CFA) with 75 percent of the project financed by the Turk Eximbank.




Louis-Paul Motaze, Cameroon’s economy minister, during the signing of the project financing agreement in Yaounde on Nov. 2 said “Japoma Sports complex must be delivered four months before the start of the African Cup of Nations which will take place in Cameroon in 2019,”

The complex which will be in Douala will be built between 18 and 22 months.
