As the Social Democratic Front-SDF joins the people’s revolution and calls for no school resumption to ramp up the pressure on the colonialist regime Paul Biya, the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium has up its game by declaring Active Resistance. They are calling on all Southern Cameroonians to take responsibility and act now. The Consortium wrote.

Extension of Ghost Towns: Mondays to Wednesdays from August 14

We, Members of the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium, CACSC have conducted a series of consultations with stakeholders on the ground in Southern Cameroons and come to the agreement that given the issues at stake, ghost towns shall with effect from Monday the 14th of August 2017 be extended to three days. Thus; the ghost towns will run from Mondays to Wednesdays every week from Monday the 14th of August to Wednesday the 4th of October 2017

During this period, no vehicles and no bikes shall be seen on our streets; not even those run by citizens of La République du Cameroun resident on our land. In as much as our struggle is not against them, we urge them, however, to scrupulously respect the directives laid down in this release and other instruments issued by the Governing Council. It has come to our notice that Amour Mezam and Congelcam keep acting contrary to our decisions; we are instructing a strict boycott of their businesses on our territory. Defaulters of this boycott who will be seen still doing business with these clear enemies of our struggle will be ostracized in our communities. People shall stay in their homes from 6 pm to 6 am to avoid finding themselves in unpleasant situations.

We, leaders of the various trade unions and civil society organizations that make up the Consortium are also calling on all Southern Cameroonians/Ambazonians wherever to take cognizance of the situation on the ground and instill in one another the consequent need for greater sacrifice and commitment to the struggle for the restoration of the independence of our country. We hereby re-iterated the decision taken by the Southern Cameroons Governing Council; that no schools shall resume on our territory in September and do hereby double down on the conditions contained in the press release of the 28th of July 2017.

We are hereby calling on the peace-loving people of Southern Cameroons to arm themselves by stocking their homes with as much foodstuff as possible. We shall send out directives on street protests scheduled for the start of September in our subsequent releases. This phase will require a lot of sacrifice and we are urging you all to scrupulously respect the directives that will be dished out in the days ahead so that we can all stay safe.

God is with us!
For the Consortium,

Barrister Eyambe Elias
