The lower house of Nigeria’s parliament voted on Wednesday, a motion to invite President Muhammadu Buhari before the chamber to discuss a series of killings in Benue state.

Clashes between cattle herdsmen and farmers since the start of the year have resulted in the deaths of hundreds. Just yesterday, an attack on a church in Benue left 16 people dead.

Having made known his intention to seek re-election for next year’s presidential polls less than one year away, such new wave of violence with put immense pressure on President Buhari to act, with Boko Haram still very much active in the northeastern part of Nigeria and inflicting harm to everyday Nigerians.
