BaretaNews is reporting that Owona Mekongo Marie Justin is dead. She died on Monday, May 30, 2016 at the La Beaujoire stadium in Nantes. Eric Golf Kouatchou, journalist of Canal 2 International in Paris, communicating the sad news, indicated that this supporter of the Indomitable Lions suffered a ruptured aneurysm. A ruptured aneurysm is a condition in which blood releases into the spaces around the brain, called a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). SAH is life threatening with a 50% risk of death. Blood in the subarachnoid space increases pressure on the brain.
Ms. Owona Mekongo Marie Justin who came from Angers died in the stadium of Nantes when Cameroon scored the second goal. The body of the deceased is currently in the Nantes University Hospital.
It should be recalled that within the month of May, 2016, two Cameroonian comrades within 48 hours gave up the ghost after collapsing on the football field. Cameroon female footballer Jeanine Christelle Djomnang died on May 8th . She was the goalkeeper for Femina Stars of Ebolowa. She collapsed 30 minutes into the game while she was warming up together with her teammates during their day 6 encounter against Louvre Minproff of Yaounde. This came barely 24 hours after Patrick Ekeng who played for Dinamo Bukarest collapsed and gave up the ghost on May 7th, 2016 on the pitch during a league game in Romania.
A week later on May 15, 2016, FECAFOOT Marketing Commission President David Mayebi died after collapsing earlier in Bertoua during the laying of the foundation stone of a stadium to be constructed by FECAFOOT.
