Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market opens on Thursday 5 November, bringing its festive stalls back to the city centre as rail operators urge visitors to plan their journeys.
The market is scheduled to run until 24 December 2026. Organisers list Victoria Square and New Street as its main locations, with free admission and no entry ticket required.
Opening hours and Sunday arrangements
According to the organiser’s visitor information, the regular opening hours are:
- Monday to Thursday: 11am–9pm
- Friday: 11am–9.30pm
- Saturday: 10am–9.30pm
- Sunday: 10am–9pm
There is an exception on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, when trading starts at 1pm.
The organiser says wheelchair users can follow routes through the market that avoid steps. Accessible toilets are available beside the Victoria Square stage.
Check the journey home
Network Rail’s announcement on 5 November advises passengers to check services before travelling and identify more than one option for returning home, rather than depending on the last train.
It says crowd controls, including queues at Birmingham New Street, may be used during busy periods.
Visitors planning a Christmas Eve trip should also note Network Rail’s warning that engineering work will stop trains serving New Street from 24 to 28 December. Check the latest timetable before making plans.
Police preparations
West Midlands Police said on 4 November that it had been working with partners ahead of the markets’ return, including preparations for additional plain-clothes and covert patrols.
The force urged visitors to secure valuables, look out for companions and report concerns to police or security staff.
