Most of the girls are aged between 14 or 15. It was revealed that people traffickers demanded 30,000 to 40,000 euros to bring them to Europe. The women were then forced to earn back the money as prostitutes once they had arrived.
The women undertook their journey by land through the Libyan desert. Many of the women were raped en route.
From Libya they arrived in Italian refugee camps where people traffickers made contact and they were employed as prostitutes in Italy, France and Belgium. They were then forced to earn the money that had already been paid on their account as street prostitutes.
The people traffickers have been running for several years. Last Tuesday ten women were free and five ringleaders were detained.
BaretaNews noted that since the ousting of Muammar Gaddaffi who died on 20th October 2011, Libya has never been the same again. It has become the hotbed of terrorism activities and the major routes through which Africans are being trafficked into Europe for unscrupulous activities and/or search of better life.
God is still saying something.
