Okoyong College Burning Spurs Consternation In Mamfe

By Mbah Godlove

For many years, the Queen of the Holy Rosary College of Okoyong, Manyu County, of Ambazonia’s Southern Zone has remained one of the most prestigious schools that have stood the test of time until recently when gunmen set it ablaze.

Using the modus operandi of Ambazonian Restoration Forces, unidentified gunmen stormed Okoyong about 48 hours a go, setting the age-old boarding school in flames.

On Saturday February 12, a video surfaced on social media in which the gunmen brutally razed the structure.

In the said video, students could be heard wailing in different directions, struggling to seek refuge.

The perpetrators of the act on their part are heard warning the students and possibly school administrators against taking part in colonial Youth Day activities.

While some Ambazonians believe that the act was committed by French Cameroun’s occupational forces to tarnish the image of the people’s liberation army, others have put the blame on Restoration Forces, stressing that the attack reflects their modus operandi.

The attack has been condemned by several Ambazonia activists and leaders.

Meantime, the people of Mamfe have been in consternation as they regret seeing part of the the Okoyong girls’ school engulfed by wildfire.
