Three civilians were shot at Ekona this Saturday, September 12, 2026, by unknown gunmen. Among those killed was Ebot Clinton, the owner of the vehicle. The two other victims were a mechanic who had repaired the vehicle and a passenger travelling with them.

According to information gathered, Clinton travelled to Kumba to deliver supplies for Nestlé when his vehicle broke down. He was forced to remain in Kumba while the vehicle underwent repairs.

The repairs took longer than expected, and the lockdown came into effect before they could return to Buea.

After the lockdown ended on Saturday, Clinton, the mechanic, and the passenger set out for Buea.

Their journey was cut short in Ekona when suspected separatist fighters allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, killing all three occupants.

The latest details have made the tragedy even more painful. The victims had respected the lockdown and remained in Kumba until it was lifted, only to encounter deadly violence on their journey home.
