United States Politician Karen Bass Condemns Intimidation Against West Cameroonians by the Government of the Republic of Cameroon.
Congresswoman Karen Bass representing the 37th District of California on Friday February 3, 2017 has expressed concern towards the ongoing Anglophone crisis in Cameroon. BaretaNews gathered that she made a statement following recent reports indicating that there has been increasing intimidation by the Government of the Republic of Cameroon to their Anglophone counterpart. According to information tapped from her official page, Karen Bass made the following statements:
“I am greatly concerned over recent reports indicating that there has been increasing intimidation by the Government of the Republic of Cameroon against the English-speaking population of the country.”
Also, she urges the government of the Republic of Cameroon to respect the rights to self-determination and freedom of opinion of the English-speaking population. Karen Bass went further to write:
“I urge the Government of the Cameroons to respect the civil and human rights of all of its citizens and immediately end its violent attacks on protesters, end the internet blackout in majority English-speaking regions, and ease restrictions regarding what the media is allowed to report.”
These statements are coming in few days after the Anglophone Crisis was discussed in the British House of Commons. BaretaNews conclude by saying that this is another big diplomatic move in the struggle and request more and timely intervention of international organizations.
Stay tuned with BaretaNews.

Funny right,I just finished reading funny article about congress woman Karen Bass talking about the situation in Cameroon. First of all she don’t even know where Cameroon is located, surely one Cameroonian living in her district in new York just fed her with the abazonia terrorists group lies as usual.is us better than Cameroon in humans right issues?I think no.Cameroon is more democratic than the US. Can the congress woman tell us what she has done for the tortures people of colors are going through with polices officer in us.the killing of black people by polices officers is twice tighter than the number of people killed in the world by terrorists attacks.you new president TRUMP is lawless governing America like in a dynasty …cameroon has no lessons to receive from you.before you clean someone compound, you should better clean your first. …thank you.
like it or not you so called bassong ,our backside is more dirty than theirs and perpetrators for crimes committed shall not go unpunished.take a look around you of all the trials relating to abuse of human rights tried at the Hague.whats for sure IS THAT this government has blood on its hands and it has been blacklisted as a dictatorial regime ……
Clearly you can’t read English otherwise you’ll notice she is a congresswoman from California not New York.
Secondly, if you did your homework, before spewing this gibberish you must have found out that this lady has been to Cameroon, meet with Paul Biya in Washington DC during the American -African Summit organized by President Obama.
Coutts implores you to be generous and at least humble enough to stay quiet and learn when you don’t know or understand a subject
We don’t care about what Americans are doing or are thinking about Cameroon condition. AMERICA is not longer an example. MY friend, I am also Cameroonian and Pushing people in different worst ways to handle the situation is what we aren’t sharing. LET US said about global life improvement. Sure, it should be better for us. IT is important to stay in the right side by telling truth and stop to attribute some critical pictures to Cameron case, pictures most the time are collected from others countries. Showing Army, s dealing with Boko Haram members can’t be Translated into the anglophone crisis.
@ Bassong – It seems you have been paid by Biya to comment on this forum. You seem demented and in a world of your own. What a shame!
And you have been paid by Ambazonia.
basong. evil isnt only done by those
who perpetrate it.but those who stood by in silence and do nothing.
I salute the New yorker for raising her voice to help the Colonized people of southern cameroons Aka
Ambazonia. cameroun is a seperate
country from southern cameroons
as her map in 1960 the date of ger independence from france shows. not been a part of southern cameroons in the history of Africa.
It ONLY relied on its guns to invade and colonized southern cameroons.People how can an ex colony of a former european power
who losed 1 million of its own people in a war with the European Colonizer.in1960 itself invaded and Colonized a neigbor.southern cameroons in 1961?and cameroun after 55 yrs of pillage. murder and human degradations. wants to proof
its reason to be right? surely The whole world must bring on sanctions.
military. diplomatic to paul biya
to bring down a big sledge hamner on him. the same way it was brought to pol pot. hitler. sadham etc. evil must have no place to hide in our civiluze world
Admin, thanks for the great job sharing information.
Would you consider including links to original stories/sources where and when available. I believe this in common practice in reporting and helps boost your site and credibility?
Thanks
This God is soo merciful. Because If I could just get a hold of such powers, then the likes of those like the asshole BASSONG n Co with such comments up there will not just receive leprosy but straight death. Idiots. Foolish idiotic numbkulls. Chai God. This thing d vex me
@Bassong, or whatever you call yourself. You do understand that if you doubt the credibility of a story, especially one like this, you can pickup your phone and call the office of this congresswoman to verify, right? Sweetheart, where are you writing from? If not from Cameroon, then I am obligated to tell you that you probably left Cameroon, but Cameroon did not leave you? Please get some education, you sound too ignorant.
My dear brothers and sisters,
Know that your African American brothers and sisters like Congresswoman Karen Bass are behind you this struggle! “President Bassong” is what we called in slavery days an “Uncle Tom,” or an “excessively subservient person, particularly when that person is aware of their own lower-class status…”
Just as our ancestors fought and slavery ended in the US, you will prevail. Hold on, don’t give up!
What a shame and a disgrace Bassong or whatever it that you call yourself. Use a dictionary and double check before writing trash like what you just. May God forgive you for your ignorance. No need wasting my time getting angry at the dirtb you wrote cos I will only degrade myself by doing so. I pass. You are really an idiot and an ignorant fool.
Mr Bassong, you sounds great in the American history and well been of thier people, but what much about the beloved Country you claim to be Cameroon?
All these hateful citizens of fcameroun who loves to see their fellow African arrested for no reason
rape and killed in their own country
southern camerokns are nothing less than guilty of these crimes committed by their cameroun govt
@Bassong or whatever u call urself, why did u come to the US if Cameroon is better than America when it comes in terms of human rights? u should be ashamed of urself bcuz I don’t think u know the history of ur country, u better go back to school and learn. May God have mercy on fools like u for calling us terrorists
The flow of anger is too much. As you rightly said someone needs to educate Bassong about the History of Cameroon, Southern Cameroon and La Republique. It is rather unfortunate that La Republique refused to teach us our own history instead taught us European History and later on World Affairs where Cameroon history was excluded. Thanks to the struggle I hve understood the history of SC and LRC. I am sure many hve understood in the same way that is why there is flow of anger within the ranks of SC.
