Supporters of the Ambazonia independence struggle are mourning after several fighters were killed in Widikum, Momo County. The incident reportedly occurred during an encounter with colonial forces.

According to local sources, soldiers ambushed a control post operated by Ambazonia fighters on Sunday, August 2. The attack reportedly caused heavy casualties among the fighters.

At least three fighters reportedly fell during the incident. Several others also sustained injuries, although their conditions could not be independently confirmed.

Meanwhile, anti-Ambazonian media outlets alleged that the fighters had been extorting money from civilians at Widikum Market. However, a civilian who witnessed the situation disputed that account.

Speaking to BaretaNews anonymously, the civilian said the fighters only requested limited support from residents. The source added that they were positioned there to confront government forces.

The Widikum incident adds to a growing list of reported casualties across Ambazonia. Recent incidents have also been reported in Ndop, Oku and Kumbo in the Northern Zone.

Similarly, casualties have been reported around Mamfe and Muyuka in the Southern Zone. These incidents highlight the continuing human cost of the armed conflict.

The reports could not be independently verified at the time of publication. BaretaNews continues to monitor developments and will provide updates as credible information becomes available.
