At least one colonial paramilitary (gendarme) of La Republique du Cameroun (LRC), has been killed and two others arrested by unknown men in Mutengene, Fako County. The incident that occurred at the early hours of this Thursday June 21, 2018, has left huge military deployment in the commercial roundabout.

According to an eyewitness, unknown gunmen stormed the gendarme checkpoint around ‘bigmop’ market along the Mutengene-Limbe road. They requested all the gendarmes to surrender and disarm themselves. One of them proved tough and decided to shoot at the gunmen. Unfortunately, he immediately fell down, though, he was not shot. Meaning, his own cartridge had boomerang on him.

Seeing the dire situation, the other two gendarmes immediately surrendered to the gunmen. They were catered away to an unknown destination.

Few hours later, colonial military besiege the area firing several rounds of gun in the air. The gunshots scared many to their homes, a situation that is still prevailing at press time.

It should be noted that some unknown men fighting against military brutality and arbitrary arrest in Mutengene, have called on all colonial forces to leave their land or be dealt with. This latest incident brings the number to 2, of the total number of people who have been killed this June in Mutengene since the gunmen made such pronouncement. More than 4 colonial personnel have been arrested by these protectionists.
