BaretaNews’ Poll on Interim Government Ends in Favour of Reform/Form Unity IG
BaretaNews has been monitoring Ambazonian public opinion on the leadership and governance of the independence revolution, especially in line with happenings within the Interim Government (IG) of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia.
While some Ambazonians think that the IG is bogus and needs to be completely overhaul, others believe in a unity-based IG – with reforms that embrace members of groups not represented within the IG. However, there are others who just believe in a simple clean-up of the system, whereby perceived spoilers, masked unionists and federalists are identified and uprooted from the system.
And so, BaretaNews, as an Ambazonian revolutionary media and the Peoples’ Platform decided last week to conduct a poll on two options in order to ascertain what particular kind of change is desired within the IG. The BaretaNews poll intentionally had just two options – Maintain but Clean IG and Reform/Form Unity IG.
It is important to state here that the option or view of some Ambazonians that the IG be totally dissolved was left out of the poll for reasons which the management of BaretaNews finds sensible and objective for the health of the revolution at this critical moment.
The IG on behalf of the people of Ambazoia has been working, making contacts and diplomatic gains (which cannot be brought to the public space). Some critical foundations on the progress of the revolution have been laid which cannot be demolished and start all a fresh now. In fact, most members of the diplomatic community, whether we like it or not, believe and have seen that a good number of Ambazonians both home and abroad believe in the idea and listen to the leadership of the IG.
Consequently, dissolving the IG completely at this critical moment will be a monumental revolutionary mistake. It will not only portray Ambazonians before the world as people who don’t know what they want but, will also set the stage for another leadership chaos, which is not what the endangered people at home want to see at this critical moment of the revolution.
Nearly all Ambazonians feel that the IG has been infiltrated by masked unionists and federalists acting as restorationists. That is why President Ayuk-Tabe and co could be successfully sold off to the colonial regime of La Republique du Cameroon, in complicity with the Nigerian Government. Reforming the IG by removing the moles becomes necessary. But which type of reform is what BaretaNews sort to know from the people.
Following the BaretaNews two option poll therefore, 55 % of the 1900 participants voted for reform/Form Unity IG, as against 45 % who wants the present IG structure maintained but weeding out perceived moles within and individuals with divided loyalty to the present Acting President Dr. Sako Samuel.
The implication of the 55 percent vote for reform and a Unity government from the perspective of BaretaNews is that, Ambazonians want to see an interim government wherein all front line movements involved in the revolution are represented for concerted and coordinated action towards freeing the homeland. This means that, key leadership positions that have been directly involved in negotiating diplomatic deals and transactions for Ambazonians should remain intact during such reforms. In other words, the reformers should not make the mistake of undoing Sissiku Ayuk-Tabe as the President of the IG or Dr. Sako Samuel Ikome, as Acting President of the IG of Ambazonia.
However, Ambazonians who believe in maintenance and a simple clean-up of the present IG structure think that there should be no major reform since the IG is already doing a good job, despite the challenges of infiltration. According to some of them, the coalition of the groups not represented in the IG as ARCC, is an advantage for the revolutionary movement, as it further helps in boosting the revolutionary fronts. After all, everyone is fighting for the same goal – freedom for Ambazonia.
Nevertheless, Majority of the revolutionary minds from BaretaNews poll have spoken that they want to se a unity government. The question now is whether the groups not presently represented in the IG are willing to be part of the IG and on what terms, and whether the IG under the leadership of Dr. Sako Samuel is ready to open the door for a unity government and on what terms. But one thing is clear. If the revolution is all about the Ambazonian people, then any genuine leader should be able to make leadership sacrifices for the good of the Ambazonian people.
It is good that all the frontline leaders have been listening to the calls by Ambazonians on the need for collaboration with each other. President Sako and Dr. Ayaba Cho did acknowledge and mention these calls in their last public outings. The people therefore wait to see how the events unfold in the days ahead, especially with the hint by the Acting President on a planned All Ambazonian Consultative Conference to redefine the revolutionary track and set the stage for any possible negotiations with the colonizers in future.

On what basis did BaretaNews conduct the poll
One of the major roles of the mass media, as the fourth estate in any society or Government is agenda-setting. The Agenda-Setting theory as postulated by Max McCombs and Donald Shaw is the ability of the media to influence public agenda.
There is no doubt that, this revolution is generally an information/media war. Through the media, the activities on ground zero are transformed by the belligerent parties into media missiles either to kill or reinvigorate the revolutionary momentum. In several instances, it is public/media opinion that has influenced activities on ground and has increasingly determined the revolutionary agenda on both sides. This also include the management of the revolution and the assessment of revolutionary leadership and governance issues.
The social media, with its many revolutionary platforms including BaretaNews, has been dictating the tone of the Ambazonian restoration revolution. The colonial regime understands this very well, and that’s why, it has made several failed attempts to stifle the Ambazonian media, right from the commencement of the revolution.
As a revolutionary platform, committed to defending the wishes of majority of the Ambazonian people, BaretaNews only saw it as part of her responsibility of revolutionary agenda-setting, towards the freedom of the homeland.

The IG is the only legitimate Ambazonian government which is well structured,funded by patriotic Ambazonians with limited funds,Unity must be with all other legitimate SCs groups to meet with the AIP not just the AIP to run around grown men begging for unity, it must be a collaboration,the IG has some corrupt bunch of egoistic men and women who work and are paid by french Cameroon,these SCs have positioned themselves in the IG as trusting,intelligent, influential than some which is dangerous,many ordinary SCs some by name yet the IG just suspend them why not dismiss them immediately because they are causing distraction by allowing lrc to cause mayhem in the regions,when they write negative comments about lrc, it is their way of faking suspicious, trying to woo back weak SCs to trust them,the IG must abandon SCBC and set up it’s own broadcasting network because sometimes SCBC promotes the IG as not efficient,the IG must have enough funds by now to start new initiatives,some Consortium members in the SCBc + IG aided the abduction of H E Sisiku, Mr Tassang and others,Dr Sako must act faster, many in the diasporas funding this revolution are getting fed up with funding self defense, mytriptobues,Levy because they are not seeing results from ground zero regarding daily killings of the people which is too much, why is ground zero still using hunting guns, why is all the money collected not being use to buy modern weapons for them to protect their communities, themselves instead of running into bushes?

Here we go again. Another clear example of putting the horse before the cart. When shall we learn from our mistakes. This is how it all started and his Excellency Sisiku Ayuk was forced to put so much in his plate with one of his Achilles hill being the desire to unite people who were not ready to be part of his government. For trying to do this, he inadvertently opened himself up to traitors on the pay roll of LRC that culminated in the Nera hotel fiasco.
Presently, Self-defense groups in ground zero have been infiltrated as was demonstrated by the events in Pinyin and Bessi. Instead of following the advice of Eric Tataw of making sure that there are early warning systems in most of the counties in Amberland we are here talking about something that only feeds into the egos of some.
Are we not supposed to be asking ourselves how it could have been possible for the LRC terrorist to have invaded Pinyin and kill so many youths without someone warning of their coming?
How could these LRC terrorist invade the Palace in Lebialem and be carting away valuables from the Palace unperturbed etc. etc.?
Presently, the focus should be on funding the resistance and nothing else. When we get to Buea, if we like we can afford the luxury of fighting as we want. But at this juncture, focusing on ameliorating the suffering of our people should take priority over any other adventurisms.
