Wonya-Mokumba Military Raid Costs Severe Damage
By Mbah Godlove
La Republic Du Cameroun’s soldiers have made life miserable for inhabitants of Wonya-Mokumba, a village in the outskirts of Ambazonian capital, Buea. Sources say military atrocities in the area have made locals to flee their homes and seek refuge in other parts of the town and beyond. The recent action of La Republique’s soldiers in the locality occurred this Saturday August 31 in which they broke into homes, molested denizens.
A source in the area told BaretaNews that over 10 military vehicles drove into Wonya-Mokumba early today, a move which created fear and panic amongst a few people left in the village. After distorting the houses, the agents of occupation gathered a few villagers after torturing some and told them they were not out to harm, but to protect them, our sources added.
The act further instilled fear in the inhabitants following numerous atrocities that the colonial forces have been perpetrating. In december last year, a group of military men gunned down a couple who were constructing a shed for their business. Meantime, the soldiers also moved to Moussaka, a neighbouring village to Wonya-Mokumba where they reportedly confistigated two moto bikes.
Wonya-Mokumba is located 3 kilometers from Mount Camel Junction, Muea in Buea. Today’s evasion in the area as BaretaNews has learned, was influenced by the search for Restoration fighters.
