Trump Vs Clinton

US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has gained ground against his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to a national tracking poll. For the first time in nearly a month, Trump finds himself ahead of Clinton, according to the latest LA Times/USC Dornsife poll published on Saturday.

The daily tracking poll showed Trump at 45 percent and Clinton at 43 percent as of Saturday, which is within the survey’s margin of error. Trump has regained some of the ground he lost after the Democratic National Convention in late July. One week ago, the same poll had Clinton leading by five points.

However, the results of the latest survey are far closer than most other polls, which use different methodology and nearly all show Clinton ahead by several points. The shift follows a shakeup last week at the top of the Trump campaign after weeks of turmoil. On Wednesday, he announced he was overhauling his campaign operation for the second time in less than two months.

On Thursday, Trump apologized for his past controversial comments that “may have caused personal pain” as he attempted to refocus his message in the face of falling opinion poll numbers. Trump did not cite any examples of such comments. His campaign has been marked by controversy from the beginning, including disparaging remarks about women, Mexican immigrants, and Muslims.

To be sure, there is widespread voter discontent with both candidates. Nearly 63 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of Trump, while 53 percent have an unfavorable view of Clinton, a Reuters poll found earlier this month. Clinton and Trump are ranked among the most unpopular presidential candidates in America’s history, recent polls show.
