The Cameroon Civil Conflict is Unwinnable by Either Side, Mediation Process Should Begin – U.S Diplomat. Is Yaounde Ready?
Former United States Assistant Secretary of State for Africa Affairs, Herman Jay Cohen has again noted that the ongoing war for territorial control between French Cameroun and the Federal Republic of Ambazonia is unwinnable by either side, and therefore recommends that the protagonists should approach the current Assistant Secretary of State for Africa Affairs, Ambassador Tibor Nagy, to begin a mediation process to end the imbroglio. The former diplomat and scholar who brokered a peace deal to end the Eritrean versus Ethiopia war in 1991, among others, made the statement in a recent tweet on his official Twitter handle @CohenOnAfrica.
“The #Cameroon civil conflict is unwinnable by either side. I recommend that @AsstSecStateAF, Ambassador Tibor Nagy, be asked by the protagonists to begins a mediation process.” The tweet read.
Cohen had in another tweet a few months ago reminded the colonial Yaounde regime that time was running out for it to return the Cameroons to the pre 1972 two states Federation in a period of one year or be ready to accept Ambazonia as a new nation. His recent public statement on the conflict is coming a week after the United Kingdom’s House of Lords, in a plenary debate asserted the territorial integrity of Ambazonia, citing the relevant decolonization instruments of the United Nations and the African Union. The lawmakers, had in that debate, recognised the mistake of the the British Crown during the decolonization process in believing that the two peoples of the Cameroons could live harmoniously together considering their vast socio-political dichotomies.
The recommendation of Ambassador Cohen, suits squarely the agenda of the Ambazonian revolutionary movement, as they have consistently maintained their requests to the international community on the need for a mediation between French Cameroun and Ambazonia on the outstanding root causes of the conflict. This is especially, considering the fact that the colonial republic and its leader Paul BIYA, completely turned down any form of dialogue even with the minority moderate voices within the revolutionary space and opted for a senseless use of force to suppress a peaceful movement with genuine historical, international and legally binding concerns.
With the recent disallowment of the Anglophone General Conference (AGC), an initiative of some Ambazonian religious and Federalist oriented leaders to harmonize positions among the revolutionary movement for possible negotiations, it’s left to be seen if the colonial regime will heed to this counsel from the former US diplomat. The bloodthirsty Yaounde based colonial junter continues to spill the blood of the innocent and razing properties across the Ambazonian territory but is not winning the war either. In fact, most of the burnings are an expression of their frustrations each time they meet their Waterloo against Ambazonian Restoration Forces. Colonial military commanders and Generals have continued to express their frustrations to the press behind closed doors, while accepting the fact that a military solution to the conflict is totally not feasible.
The big question remains; why is the colonialist in Yaounde and his cohorts afraid of the NEGOTIATION TABLE ? And the answer; Yaounde and her colonial mother France, know that they have NO CASE against the Sovereign People of Ambazonia, when and wherever the issue of territorial integrity in the Cameroons is brought to the table. French Cameroun is an illegal occupier and a parasitic colonialist trying to assert its control and continuously harvest where she did not sow.
But Ambazonia shall resist until victory comes.

THE WORLDS STAYS QUITE WHILE FRENCH CAMEROON COMMITS GENOCIDE IN AMBAZONIA
France, biya and his french Cameroon Criminals know they have NO CASE against the Sovereign People of Ambazonia, when and wherever the issue of territorial integrity in the Cameroons is brought to the table. biya is a coward and ashamed to back down. At the moment, he continues to stage these stunts in Ambazonia to get international sympathy. The UN and AU are speak from two sides of their mouths, but the understanding is that they know the truth about Ambazonia which even though delayed will set Anbazonia FREE. IT’S AMBAZONIA OR NOTHING.
Some of us are beginning to wonder why much is not being done to protect our young men and women on ground zero who have selflessly put their lives on the line to defend the homeland.
First it was all these foolish quarrels among some in the diasporas that like a wild fire, spread and engulfed the defenders of the homeland resulting in many being killed needlessly because they had to make videos to explain their exploits. And yet we had people in the diaspora failing to warn the defenders that each video they post on line gives away a trove of information about them to the enemy.
Today we are seeing cache of guns that have been seized by the LRC criminals.
Someone really need to do some explaining to the Ambazonian people. Some of us have sacrifice a lot to see this type of set back
You are right but there is a huge range of ignorance on how to go about this war declared upon us.
the ignorance is on several domains:
1) organisational ignorance. We do not know how to organise and manage ourselves infront of a criminal state that is using trained men with France as advisers and supply of intelligence on the one side. EG see how we spent energy and time accusing ourselves revolutionary spirits over the arrest of our leaders as if they needed to be betrayed for that to happen. For a hosting state to arrest anyone and shipped to another criminal state, a lot of arrangements, agreements, intelligence by the security forces is put in place which does not require any form of betrayal before that could be done. Yet our behaviour shows we are very backward on how these things work and secondly we destroy our own momentum because of our ignorance of facts. the question we should ask now is: Which form of organisation, what type of leadership, which type of knowledge, what are the required human capacity needed at this stage of the revolution.
2) Military intelligence: It is not enough to be bitter, to be right, to be radical inorder to succeed especially when you are facing an intelligent criminal supported by a continental armed robber like France. We have pushed into defending ourselves as we rightfully should do so but we have to know that lack of military intelligence and guidance is a serious cause to failure and great lose of lives.
3) Finance: this is the bedrock of the revolution. Our sources of Fiances are week, inconsistent and unreliable. Because we fight over same sources of financing for each group, here comes the main reason behind the division: money and each one trying to downplay the other so as to position his/herself and his/her group to be seen as the authentic contributor to making positive impacts on the struggle – hence trying to attract funding…. the end result would be that all the funders lose the edge and slowly get discouraged… what are the consequences? We are a long way from understanding how things work and how they should really work.
“and therefore recommends that the protagonists should approach the current Assistant Secretary of State for Africa Affairs, Ambassador Tibor Nagy, to begin a mediation process to end the imbroglio”. To me this means either party could contact this high-level diplomat for initiation of dialogue. It would not there, be a weakness on the part of the IG to make the first move. If I were opportuned I will strongly recommend that the IG should contact this person.
