BaretaNews brings you a fresh initiative on the Southern Cameroons struggle developed by Southern Cameroons socio-political activist Mark Bareta.
In a Facebook post, he writes: “We could have thought of it ever since but it never came. However, it is better late than never. After reading the masterpiece letter from Father Gerald Jumbam, I thought it wise to celebrate such a move by naming our “kontry Sundays” (ghost town days). This will build momentum towards such days. Father Jumbam spoke the truth and justice over the Southern Cameroons crisis like no father had ever done. It is my understanding that anyone who read that 18-page document wept at some point because it was unbelievable excellent. Yes, I wept.”
He continued “Therefore, I thought it wise to name this Monday 8th May, the ‘Truth and Justice’ ghost town day, to remind us of the truth father spoke out and throughout the week, we shall speak truth and justice into our course.
Each Monday henceforth, will be named after events or individuals to push us and galvanise us more towards sharing and making sure ghost towns is respected. Every Wednesday, we shall name the next Monday and push reasons why that is so.”
Also, he emphasised that the initiative is purely Mark Bareta’s with an objective to renew the ghost towns and inherently build momentum towards the course. He went further to note that, the naming shall be participatory with all Southern Cameroonians on BaretaNews platform involved. However, he reserves the right to make the final choice from different opinions.
He concluded “That said, Truth and Justice Ghost Towns tomorrow. Text 30 by SMS now. Let’s do it the old way.
Follow the struggle and not individuals.”
