Observation 006.

In the light of the recently formed Southern Cameroons Ambazonia Consortium United Front (SCACUF), there has been the injection of a heralded momentum towards resolving the most contemptuous drawbacks and sensitive issues in the Struggle for the Restoration of Statehood. The leadership curse or outrageous number of factional bodies was deemed to have attracted the highest attention and greatest commitments of willing minds, seeking to assemble their qualities with a decent outlook. This initiative was trumpeted on the desperate winds of very busy, memorable and revolutionary days.

In a remarkable display of statesmanship, representatives of different Organisations stormed the Federal Republic of Nigeria to append their different seals on this Instrument of Unity (SCACUF). And, in symbolic gestures they embraced the opportunity with progressive ideas, setting an unusual standard in prosecuting the Cause for the political independence of Former British Southern Cameroons. After affectionate hours of brotherly deliberations, declaration of the formation of a united front was the natural fruit. Leaders and representatives of SCNC, SCAPO, ALIM, MORISC etc set aside their differences for the Common good.

If the adversary, La Republique Du Cameroun was ever to be defeated then the necessary first step had been taken. Flushed with pride and gesticulating in satisfaction, the conference’s participants moved outdoor, with delight, to meet their jubilant audience. The small enthusiastic crowd rallied it’s attention with much anticipation. The leaders expressed themselves with civility as they addressed the public and media. The creation of SCACUF as an umbrella organisation of the Revolution was announced and unanimously endorsed.

Mr Tassang Wilfred and Bar Eyambe Elias, renowned leaders of The ‘Cameroons Anglophone Civil Society Consortium’ were chosen to pilot the affairs of the Political Struggle at the helm of authority of SCACUF. Also, the lead speakers borrowed time to retrace the historic and cultural bonds between the peace-loving people of Southern Cameroons and the good citizens of the host nation (Nigeria). These equally historic events culminated in nostalgic indulgence as individuals exchanged sentiments in their local languages and referred their minds to the enduring sufferings and misery, back home. The moment, mostly consumed by a distance audience, was captured on pictures and disseminated widely.

However, SCACUF was created but the terms and operationalities or it’s actual relationship with other Movements was, perhaps inadvertently, left out in the details presented to the public. Hence, was it an umbrella organisation or principal infrastructure in the fight for freedom? Was the gathering a mere cosmetic show of unity or mirage of solidarity? What are the consequences of this Vessel: Do other organisations relinquish their powers and authority to the new umbrella structure; What about financial Autonomy and fundraising?.

Barely few days after the creation of SCACUF, scandalous acts of disapproval were witnessed by individuals, claiming in their respective rights, to be conducting meetings independent of SCACUF. Then, people started asking why signatory Organisations in that ‘unifying act’ took to separate fundraising ventures in their respective name despite claiming to be part of SCACUF?. Therefore, it suffices for us to know whether indeed, the agreement or instrument creating SCACUF was a merger, endorsement, show of solidarity, partnership etc?

Despite the outlining of SCACUF master plan, apparently adopting the image and burdens of the Revolution, there are discrepancies and contemptuous remarks emanating from factions that pioneered SCACUF. Let’s know, with urgent clarity, what the status of SCACUF is in relation with other organisations. Everyone who cares about the health of the political struggle would be embarrassed, disappointed and outraged by the notice-me character of opportunists and attention-seeking adventurers, in the Revolution.

Until Freedom Comes Comrades, We Stand Together. Patriotic Salute!
…Comrade Don Wan-Obi.

  1. Thanks for the insight, Don. That was so resounding and educating. At least, I have gotten a grasp of what SCACUF is all about. Before now, I was asking “What is this SCACUF all about?” but I never had any solid response like you just dished out.

All heads up and to God be the Glory.

  2. This is great progress for the southern Cameroonians but i will also want scacuf to make the scbc visible in any aspect you can. At the Ngoketunjia division network cable distributors are been arrested for no reason so we really need freedom
