The Nigerian Gate: A Southern Cameroons Scenario
Southern Cameroons leaders were abducted at Nera Hotel, Abuja on Friday, January 5th, 2018, after they arrived for a meeting on how to mobilise resources for the more than 28 000 Ambazonian refugees currently spread across three states in Nigeria, notably; Cross River, Benue and Taraba. The names of the abducted leaders include; Dr. Julius Ayuk Tabe; Mr. Wilfred Tassang; Dr. Nfor Ngala Nfor; Professor Augustine Awasom; Dr. Cornelius Kwanga; Dr. Henry Kimeng; Elias Eyambe Esq; Nalova Bih Esq; Dr. Ojong Okongo; and Dr. Fidelis Nde Che. BaretaNews, however notes that the number of the abducted had risen to 11 to include; Blaise Berinyuy, Esq.
Worthy of note is that the Nigerian Human Rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, earlier on petitioned the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, requesting him to investigate the abduction of the Southern Cameroonian leaders in Abuja, by the Department of State Service, DSS. Falana spoke in a press conference yesterday in Abuja, haven been consulted to stand as lead Counsel for the arrested leaders.
However, we at BaretaNews are following the updates from Nigeria. I call this a Nigerian Gate-the biggest diplomatic scandal in the 21st century that citizens from another country and refugees will be abducted for one week and no clear statement or charge from Nigeria. As of this moment, it is clear no one has still spoken to our leaders. In fact, every other information moving in the air is a swindle.
Today makes exactly one week since our leaders were abducted. We begin to wonder. Where exactly in Abuja are they? How do they feed? Who prepares their food and take care of them? How do they bath and change cloths? We want to be sure of their food? Who feeds them? As far as we know, African politics is dangerous, we want to be sure their food is safe and not injected with slow poison to take them away in few years Time. Why is the Nigerian Government not sending out a clear statement? The foreign affairs minister in Nigeria said it is neither an arrest nor abductions but stop short of saying more. Why should Nigeria be playing with the emotions of more than 8 million Ambazonians?
Just four hours ago, Nigeria Foreign affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama tweeted that he just had a bilateral meeting with the French ambassador to Nigeria Denis Gauer. It is very clear that behind the cameras these diplomats must have discussed our leaders abductions. What message is the French Ambassador taking to Nigeria Foreign Minister? What message has Macron sent?
It is my personal opinion that if by Monday 15th, 2018, if these guys are not released, then the ball game must change, IG must change its language and code red must be activated.
