Call on the UN to decolonise the UN Trust Territory of the SOUTHERN CAMEROONS
Mola Njoh Litumbe

OPENING STATEMENT
The UN falsely lists the Southern Cameroons, its Trust Territory, as having been decolonised, but there is no shred of evidence to substantiate this claim. What in effect took place was that Britain transferred its control over the territory to another former UN Trust Territory, the Republic of Cameroon. Britain, on 30 September 1961, handed sovereignty over the territory, not to its elected and functional government, but to the foreign government of the Republic of Cameroon, thus demoting the very advanced territory from a Trust to a colony. Transfer of domination by Britain to the Republic of Cameroon amounts neither to independence nor self-determination. It is simply a change of colonial masters. The People of the Southern Cameroons are partly holding the UN responsible for this situation and asking the UN, as the authority which was responsible for the decolonisation process in all Trust Territories, to ensure that the Southern Cameroons is decolonised as per all UN Resolutions and principles so that when the UN says the Southern Cameroons is decolonised, it has evidence to support such a statement.

THE SITUATION
The situation of the People of the former UN Trust Territory of Southern Cameroons is that pursuant to UN General Assembly Res. 1608(XV) of 21st Apr 1961, the UN fixed:
(a) The date and time of the termination of the British trust mandate over Southern Cameroons to be at midnight on 30th Sept 1961;
(b) Prior to the termination, a tripartite conference between Britain as the Administering Authority over Southern Cameroons, the Government of Southern Cameroons, and the Government of La Republique du Cameroun was to take place URGENTLY. The motive was to draw up a union Agreement embodying the previously agreed terms of Association between the two Cameroon parties and, naturally, in compliance with the governing provisions of
the UN Charter Arts 102/103; Southern Cameroons was to become independent on 1st October, 1961;
On the same date of 1st Oct 1961, the independent state of Southern Cameroons was to join the state of La Republique du Cameroun, by the creation of a Federation of 2 (two) states, equal in status, named, FEDERAL UNITED CAMEROON REPUBLIC.

THE TRIPARTITE MEETING
The tripartite meeting prior to the independence of Southern Cameroons on 1st Oct 1961 failed to hold. So there is NO AGREEMENT between the two Cameroon parties setting out the terms of association. No written Agreement as mandatorily required by Art. 102 of the UN Charter has been filed at the UN Secretariat. Accordingly, the joining process as stipulated by UN General Assembly Res. 1541(XV) has never taken place. It is therefore safe to conclude that until the parties are able to agree on mutually acceptable terms of association reduced in writing, with a copy of the Agreement filed at the UN Secretariat and mandatorily published by it, to comply with UN Charter Arts. 102/103, the parties have never legally joined. RESOLUTION 1608 (XV) La Republic du Cameroun vigorously opposed and with France and all French speaking African nations except Mali voted against this land Resolution, the passing of UN General Assembly Resolution 1608(XV) of 21st Apr 1961 granting independence to Southern Cameroons. So although the Resolution was nevertheless passed, La Republic du Cameroun has devised various strategies and has annexed and colonially occupied Southern Cameroons instead.

RECENT EVENTS
Just recently, the Police force of The Republic du Cameroon on the 10th of November 2016, physically assaulted Southern Cameroons Common law lawyers during a peaceful protest in Buea. Southern Cameroons’ teachers have been on a sit-in strike since 21 November 2016. Southern Cameroonians do not just feel marginalised, but colonised.
In Bamenda, the capital of the North West region and in Buea, the capital of the South West region, Police from The Republic of Cameroon tortured, arrested, shot and killed at least 6 protesters on the 21st of November 2016. A 17 year old student was raped by a Police officer in Buea during police crack-down on peaceful university students’ protesters. Over 50 young men have been kidnapped by The Republic of Cameroon government forces and transferred to Yaounde. It is alleged that some of them have been killed.

SOLUTIONS
1) The people of Southern Cameroons need their freedom as a People. The UN Should call on La Republique du Cameroun to withdraw to her recognised frontiers under international law, in which case the people of the Southern Cameroons would regain control of their territory.
2) Another way is for the UN to refer the matter to the International Court of Justice for its advisory opinion on whether the Republic of Cameroon can validly lay claim to the territory of the Southern Cameroons or if the claim of the Republic Cameroon over that territory can override the claim of the people of the territory themselves.
3) We call on the UN to immediately station UN troops in Southern Cameroons territory to prevent further rape, torture, arrest, kidnap and the killings of Southern Cameroonians by the forces of La Republique du Cameroun, while considering point 1 and point 2 above.

CONCLUSION
The people of Southern Cameroons are asking the UN to look into UN resolution 1608(XV) of 21 April 1961. Southern Cameroonians also urge the UN to pay special attention on UN Charter Arts 102/103 and the UN General Assembly Res. 1541(XV). The people of Southern Cameroons are now and more determined than ever to take this fight to its completion: The Restoration of Southern Cameroons Independence. We strongly call on the UN to examine our proposed solutions. The failure to intervene might lead to a situation where Southern Cameroonians might be fleeing to Europe and to America as refugees. Kindly stitch it now!

  1. Excellent write-up Mola. Logical, intelligent and concisely presented. I can see how the UN can run away from this. History will hold them responsible. No more diplomatic answers, no more negotiations with barbaric laeruplique.

  2. At a time when you suppose to be resting and enjoying your retirement, you have instead opted to sacrifice all for the betterment of the life of Southern Cameroonians. What an incredible sacrifice on your part. Mola Njoh Litumbe we shall never forget you for no matter what, you have won big.
    The question then is how can you sacrifice so much yet we have: Achidi Achu, Musonge, Abeti, Yang Philomen, Ghoghomu, Monzu and the rest always willing to sing the praise of the Biya/Beti/Ewondo mafia.

    1. Hero Mola is in exile for speaking the truth in a country which has no democracy, human rights and freedom of speech,the aboved mentioned,weak corrupt anglophone puppet slaves,are fools with lost souls to the regime, even their mother land and villages have no good roads, drinking water, electricity and jobs for any generation, they all live in Yaounde,pretend to be francophones, yet even the cosmetic slum Yaounde has non of the simplest of basic human necessities or Human rights, goes to show how the colonial greedy mentality regime under biya ettoudi clowns have spent 56 years to brainwash even the many educated people within the regime who studies overseas to behave like cave men and women, their shameless ambitions for top jobs, taking bribes, embezzlement, power, selfishness, freebies,has taken their self pride to be real men who should be standing up for unfairness and doing great things for their country,something that proud,dedicated,good patriotic politicians around the world,do for their country and people, the CPDM has dragged the country backwards into a lawless banana republic with bribery,corruption,bullying tactics, embezzlement, thuggish unemployed being used to kill and burn down establishments,desperation,and many unpatriotic citizens,SCs must have Independence in order to stop more years of lrc colonisation as the majority of people from the other regions are happy with the primitive status quo

      1. Man, I telling you, for a small amount of our people, It is so sad.

        When I look at those of our people who are doing all these to us, I feel like throwing up, they are disgusting. Even using words like mental illness, retarded, evil, … is not enough any more. They are so inhuman, so savage, so primitive, … the only thing human of them is the physical body. Even animals behave more than these group of people.

        The good thing is that this time, the majority of Ambazonians are awake, conscious, not afraid and ready to die for their right to self determination.

        LRC is such an evil place, demonic nation, it has terrorize generation upon generation of it own citizen into soullessness, poverty mentality creatures, scary cats and they think the can do the same to us, No.

        We are going to show LRC and those wicked souls of our own, that some of us Ambazonians carry something so deep with us, that no man can touch and that is determination.

  3. Mukong: You forgot to name Benjamin Itoe among the traitors and even though he prefers to be underground and a silent operator, his crimes against us over the years breaks the record. And he is a big thief of government funds too. He is a candidate for prison, whether in Ambazonia or La Rep Cameroun.

  4. We will forever owe you great warrior.

    Only people of this caliber make one fell the sense of pride to belong to a lineage.

    Our independence is ours and we are taking it all by our selves bit by bit.

  5. Thank you Pa Mola Njoh for your guidance. You are a role model for us. And your servitude for our country Ambazonia will be honoured one day. God bless you.
