Cameroon Electricity

This document below was Written by Yvon Omnes- the then French Ambassador to Cameroun and currently Special Adviser to President Paul Biya. This document is a sensitive and honest rendition of the various stages taken from 1966 to 1985 to assimilate Anglophones, by destroying the most visible tenets of Anglophone culture; the legal and education systems. It explains how Yaounde engineered the erosion of all Anglo-Saxon institutions, rendering their key political leaders irrelevant, ignoring all criticisms along. It paints a picture of how we left the Federal system to the united Republic and then the completion of the cycle in January 1984 with a return to the Republic of Cameroon. A real narrative of the various stages of the annexation of West Cameroon. This same document reminds us that the first ever call to a return to the Federal system was in 1979 by a body known as “the Cameroon Action Group”

In the face of all these and looking at the forces against them; Muna and Foncha wanted to fight, but feared for their lives and ended up saying; “Our Children will fight when the time comes”. Brethren, we are thus fulfilling our ancestral destiny; if we fail it means our children are being handed the assignment too. The difference is that our children might have had their minds reformatted completely by the time they really come of age. God forbid that we fail!!!

  1. Thank you Mark. Thank you consortium. That is what I expect from you. Facts facts facts. That will encourage every Western Cameroonian to go on with the struggle. The husband from Yaounde cheated us for 55 years. Enough is enough. Our struggle is not only for us. It is for our children and grandchildren as well. The struggle continues until we win.

  2. We don’t have soldiers and weapons to fight back.

The most important thing is to win the minds of 99 % of west Cameroonians so that they stick with the leadership of the consortium forever. The consortium is the only body that has been able to unite both the North west and south west regions in this struggle. We must never allow this unity to be broken. Peter Musonge and co have been paid to do just that and we must never allow them to succeed. There is great strength in unity.

La Republique has been using the psychology of fear and intimidation to break down this struggle. We have to use the psychology of more ANGER against the Biya government. We need to get the West Cameroonians bigly angry about the way East Cameroon has destroyed our infrastructure since we joined them.

I suggest that we write down all our infrastructure that has been destroyed over the past 55 years, and how they were destroyed. Let us include the consequences of this destruction on the lives of southern Cameroonians. In this way both the current generations and younger generations will never forget why the struggle must continue until we gain autonomy (either federation or full independence). Even the Biya government will have no justification for refusing to negotiate the form of government.

Let me begin here with some:
    1. victoria deep seaport-dismantled
    2. Tiko international airport-dismantled
    3. Tiko wharf-no more
    4. Ombe industrial college was meant to become a university of technology but they reduced it to a high school. even lower than a college
    5. Our power station in Yoke, Muyuka was dismantled until West Cameroonians cannot even have steady electricity throughout the year.
    6. Bali airport has been reduced to nothing

As I write these things I feel the anger rising, but I need to calm myself down and think.

Please continue to add to this list.

We must print out the list and distribute to all west Cameroonians at home and abroad. We must send the list to relevant diplomatic and international bodies, so that they understand why our people have decided to stand up. We have to present indisputable evidence of unjust treatment from La Republique.

I suggest that we continue to build that list.

Other ways to make West Cameroonians very angry:
    1. Make lists of all the failed promises the government has been making.
e.g the bamenda-mamfe-kumba ringroad has been promised for more that 30 years but it’s still not completed. Imagine the amount of suffering the people have had all these years because of that.
    2. Make lists of the people that have been arrested, tortured and killed unjustly
    3. Print out personal stories of people who suffered injustice because of unfair treatment.,

Anger can bring change because it is a powerful form of energy.

    1. my brother you even fell short of naming some
      marketing board
      Santa tea/coffee board
industrial cars /spare parts repair workshop in Bamenda, that is what has made Bamenda today still remains the centre for rehabilitation of old cars and heavy duty trucks,
      where is the Nanga company,
Kilo shop, did you remember the industrial river port of Mamfe (John Holt port), it booming cooperative and oil mills , my bros we are weeping within our hearts God help us, if not so we are finish.

    2. I agree with this.we need our situations documented.we need our people to know.I also feel that our being with La Rep of Cameroon is illegal.look at it.our students should be documenting what is going on now I thank God for the strong unity in our leadership God will continue to bless and guide them.I am realsing that we have never been Cameroonians.we have always been a part of or rather called a part of Cameroon..west..southwest or northwest or southern .now even the Cameroon is not there but Anglophone
Thank God for knowing the name of my country at last AMBAZONIA with well defined boundaries.Praise God

  3. The reason the government of La Republique du Cameroun deprived Southern Cameroon of all strategic institutions as mentioned in that document was of course because they knew what result the fooling of the people would lead to. That’s what we are living now. If we had those institutions we would resist them 100 times more than what we are doing. It was a smart move on their part.

For every smart move there is one to outsmart it. That’s our job to do now. We now have enough facts to justify the cause and the facts are all public for even an illiterate to see. We need to step up the game before our resistance resources dwindle to the last drop.

One thing is clear, La Republique is never ever going to serve us what we are asking for on a plate. We have three only 3 options I can think of.

Option 1. Continue resisting until our resources dwindle out. The enemy is counting on this first option. They say it all the time “Ils vont se fatiguer.” and it works all the time in their favor. Are we sure we can prove them wrong this time with an everlasting resistance?

Option 2. Step up the game and snatch what we want from them. This is a harder option but more pragmatic and realistic. It includes several strategies that aim at going out there and snatching what we want instead of simply resisting the weight of almighty Goliath. Attack, especially surprised attack is the best form of defense and resistance. If we haven’t even considered this option then in my opinion we are more like the cat that wants fish but would not want to wet its paws.

Option 3. Give up, admit defeat and return to doom. Over my dead body!

  4. Dear Emmanuel,
anger is a strong emotion. And I am pretty sure that 99% of us are so angry. But as you mentioned we shall put it in facts and figures. That process is already ongoing.
    Dear Ndoh,
I understand you. We shall continue with peaceful and non-violent tactics. But to win that fight we have to attack the evil on the roots. As long France is supporting Paul Biya it will be very difficult. We have to bring division into the Yaounde regime. We need to expose that leaders to make them rediculous. But most of all we have to convince the french government that it cannot continue with its system of Francophony. That goes only via the public in France. They have presidential election this year. Hence it is time to bring another topic in their agenda. Our money is used to heavily support the french social and welfare system. Everybody there shall know it. Everybody shall understand that France still colonize us. That France controls our finances. Let us approach big french newspapers such as Le Monde. Let us approach future leaders such as Emmanuel Macron. Let us remember the Berlin wall felt down because the big brother Sovjiet Union felt down. Our struggle continues. Don’t forget to call home today. Tomorrow the telephone lines might be cut.

  5. GOD bless southern Cameroon, May we be save too, pray endlessly to the Lord for our independent. I also want to encourage all our leaders especially those that have been arrested by the government that I’m praying for them, the Lord will make us a way let us be one before the Lord Jesus. Since the government against the truth my Lord Jesus will see into that.

  6. We should’tn forget our sold CDC by LA republic.our powercam closed down.wada closed down, marketing board closed down.Menchum faults electricity project blocked. They now create lom pangar,Kribi deep sea port Merveule and all the others which are far away and makes it more expensive for our tax payers money.why? Why? Why? France and LA republic.Did Southern Cameroonians make a mistake to join u as brothers to live together! They are presently creating a more expensive rubber plantation now in the south region in Biyas home region but do not want to developed and expand a cheap and vibrant rubber plantation in Southern Cameroon.

  7. The list is long; Marketing Board,Cameroon bank,BesongAbang(Mamfe) Airport. What a wicked regime. All attention is in the South Region where the president hails.

  8. A MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO OUR DEVOTED AND FAITHFUL LEADERS;
All those in jail,on the run,and all those on ground.
    Bro Wilfred=the incorruptible leader.
    Bro Mark =The GODLY leader
    Bro Ivo:The clean hearted leader.
    LEADING CHANGE.
    Lessons from the wilderness.
1)MAGNIFY THE PLAGUES. To make pharaoh release GOD’S people,Moses called down the plagues, and he didn’t stop untill the old system gave way.At this stage, problems are your friend.Don’t solve them;they convince people that they need to let go of the old way.
2)MARK THE ENDING. What a symbolic and memorable “boundary event” Moses had in the crossing of the red sea! After his people walked through the waters on the dry land, there was no turning back.
3)DEAL WITH THE MURMURING. “Don’t be surprised when some lose confidence in your leadership somewhere between where they came from and where they are going.Moses heard things like, does our leader know the way?we have never done it this way before! What was so bad about Egypt? In times of transition, look for opportunities to show concern for how your people feel;interact with the strugglers.
4)GIVE PEOPLE ACCESS TO DECISION MAKERS.Thanks to Jethro,Moses appointed a new cadre of leaders to narrow the gap between the people and the decision makers. As a result, the people felt more connected.
5)CAPITALIZE ON THE CREATIVE OPPORTUNITY OF THE WILDERNESS.It was in the wilderness, not the promise land, that a big innovation took place.GOD handed down the ten commandments. Some of your biggest breakthroughs will also take place in the wilderness.
6)RESIST THE URGE TO RUSH AHEAD.It often seems that little happens in the wilderness, but great transformation takes place there.Don’t please Jeopardize it by hurrying ahead or removing the pain of giving birth to a new vision .Let GOD ALMIGHTY do HIS work.
7)UNDERSTAND THAT “WILDERNESS LEADERSHIP “IS SPECIAL. Moses did not enter the promised land. His kind of Leadership fit the transition time, where things seems confusing and fluid. The nation needed Joshua to enter Canaan, because he led the military, and because a settled life required new skills.Movements and organizations don’t always need a new leader, but they do require a new style of Leadership once the transition is complete
Just to say thank you our good leaders,We love you so much and we appreciate all your sacrifices .please be strong for our GOODGOD is with you all in the name of JESUS CHRIST.
From two Western Cameroonian humble sisters.
    S and M.

  9. you have forgotten about Bafut airport that has been turn into a military base in which la Republic President in 2010 came to inaugurate in the name of 50th anniversary of the armed forces what a way to fool southern Cameroonians, Public works Department(PWD) that was in charge of constructing and maintaining our roads and they shut it down and took the Machines to yaounde for our parents to come and rent in order to maintain our roads which made everything worse till today .this explains why we have no roads. just to name a few.

  10. People its not what the french.english or Japanese ambassadors documents says
about camerouns military invasion and colonization of southern cameroons in 1961. Its rather was the leaders of cameroun did and their motivations to their crimes. that we must focus on punishing them. first by DECOLONIZing
southern cameroons. then freezing the leaders bank accounts and travel ban at least When some ask you to go steal and the police arrest you.you wontsay that you are not guilty because its some one who sent you.

  11. Guys,

    We need a step forward and I propose;

    1. let create an annual celebration day called for example : Memorial day wich can be held the day our leaders were arrested to mark our struggle and make sure next generation will not forget about this struggle, a mistake done by others before and we should avoid doing the same, history needs facts.

    2. Enter the political area with the next coming elections by electing our own people for a start therefore let ask the population to register for next coming elections.

    or

    3. Start a tax desobidience campaign by stop paying taxes to authorities of La Republic.

    or

4 Last and extreme one: Self proclaim ourselves free and independent then create our own government giving that we got our independance before joining them. Others did it before and it worked, we just need courage.

  12. MOST YOUNG PEOPLE DON’T KNOW THAT ONCE UPON A TIME FRANCOPHONE S NEEDED VISA A VISA TO ENTER ANGLOPHONE LAND AND AND ANGLOPHONE TO ENTER THE FRANCOPHONE AREA “LESSE PASSES”
EVEN THEIR FRANCOPHONE POLITICAL PRISONERS WERE GRANTED POLITICAL ASYLUM IN WEST CAMEROON IN PART BECAUSE WE WERE TWO COUNTRIES AND THEIR TERRORIST ARMY COUNT NOT ENTER ANGLOPHONE LAND
IN THE EYES OF TODAY’S ANGLOPHONE, THE FRANCOPHONE GOVERNMENT AND THEIR POLICE/MILITARY ARE TERRORIST…SAME AS BOKO HARAM. THEY ARE NOT ARE FRIENDS. WE DON’T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING ANYMORE TO DO WITH FRENCH CAMEROON.
WHY DO FRANCOPHONES LOVE US SO MUCH THAT THEU WOULD RATHER KILL US THAN ACCEPT THAT WE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF FRENCH AND COLONIZATION /?
