Catholic Seminarian Writes to Mark Bareta: Please beg the Bishops for us.

A would be Catholic Priest has written to Mark Bareta, requesting that I put more pressure on the Bishops. I am making his words public so that the public can contribute and in our own way help to push our bishops further. The would be Priest writes:

“Mark good day. I have a favour to ask from you. Please can you urge our Bishops to take a bold step and call the government to dialogue? Especially Bishop Agapitus. He is one of the boldest amongst all the Bishops and the one who does not abide alot to Yaoundé . Please beg them to call the government to a referendum. This is so because the government began by banning everyone from speaking about federalism on media. Now every media is talking about federalism when we have all moved to restoration. The only peaceful solution to this is the choice and voice of the people. Let us not pretend to have any national unity or whatever. The inhumane handling of this crisis makes cases worse and their consciences will not rest if anything worse than this happen. Let them speak and if their voices are not heard or abided to, then we know they spoke. But they should speak now. Mark, please get some agents in Cameroon to pen and address to the Bishops. Please . The situation on ground needs urgent and peaceful solutions. Let the people be open. We are tired of Frank and open dialogue talk everyday. Let’s make it practical. Do it may be openly but try to send a note to them so they know it is serious or organise a peaceful movement to their houses . They have powers. They should not sit quite and wait to give apology after”

My comment: This seminarian echoes the thoughts of other priests such as Father Jumbam who has written repeatedly on this. Our Christians and people must force our Bishops to speak out and avoid a blood bath. I am making the seminarian letter to me public so that we can in our ways act. Every Southern Cameroonian is called upon now to hold the Bishops to account. They have to speak up now and save the crisis.

NB: I am concealing the identity of this seminarian but a lot of them feel the same way.

  1. No Federation. Not Referendum. Referendum for what? You don’t hold a referendum on something that was already decided under article 1608 on April 21, 1961. We are only demanding separation and for them to leave our annexed country. Full stop. I have no connection or love for the camerounese green, red, yellow flag or people and if you have one drop of La Republic blood in you, you and I are not the same, as simple as that.

  2. Mr Bakia you ‘re very correct. It’s with good reason that the UN article on the various resolutions are every where. If you read and you don’t understand; re-read.

  3. First, have you Bareta investigated to know for sure that this Seminarian is truly a Seminarian, in what Seminary and to whom he pays allegiance? My concern is that this Seminarian as you put it, singles out Bishop Agapitus because he is the out spoken one. If it is an issue of the Bishops, it is a going to be a consensus among the Bishops and not just Agapitus. Or is it another ploy by a la Republique agent to pin Agapitus down because he does not ally with Yaounde?

Another concern is that, this Seminarian has already called on you Bareta to put pressure on the Bishops to speak now. Why is there the need to get some agents in Cameroon to pen and address the Bishops? The 22nd of September took all Francophone agents by surprise and to this day they still cannot fathom how the effective mobilization took place. They went to sleep because they felt Social Media talk was not going to move the people. So now it dawns on them that the revolution has an effective machinery on the ground and so La Republique Agents want to identify our Agents on the ground?

If all the above are true, then this so called Seminarian must go back to the drawing board and ask his master and himself the questions; “why have our wits left us”. But if he is a true Seminarian with genuine concerns, then accept my apologies. You must understand that we find ourselves in trying times and must be on our guard all the time. One thing I must advice though is that Independence is non negotiable. So there is no place for Federation.

  4. Here we go again with rumours. After Sept 22 we should move forward and hit HARDER and HARDER. These clergymen should be listed on Bareta news, phone numbers, email addresses and social media accounts. ( all denominations) Let’s all bombard them with info (LAST WARNING) and make them see the writing on the wall. They will be held accountable. On a practical basis, BOYCOTT all their churches, schools, bookstores and businesses. Use the money you spend on them to support each other and the REVOLUTION. (SANCTIONS!!!!) These will bring them to their knees faster than writing letters. Watch out if witch doctor, gorilla biya tries to give them stolen bribe dirty money and propaganda.
