Andre Fotso, President of GICAM is dead. He died in France. He was elected head of the Cameroon Employers Group since 2012. He had as plan of action to mobilize all stakeholders around accelerating Cameroon’s growth with the aim of placing Cameroon to the path of emergence.
He had a postgraduate degree in Management Science from the University of Lyon II. He began his professional life in the Batoula Company as management controller.
In 1985, he joined the multinational Rhone Poulenc which specializes in chemicals. This position made him the number 2 of the company employing over 100 people. In 1991, he created 3T Cameroon, specialized in transportation, transit, stevedoring, handling and logging. Faced with multinationals like SDV, Saga, Maersk, Getma, MSC, 3T Cameroon was a respectable place to be. Two decades later, 3T Cameroon has 150 employees, 70 tractors and 150 trailers, over 200 000 , tons of cargo handled at the port of Douala in the Central Africa subregion . In 1993, he created Fme gas, an industrial gas production company; he invested more than 6 billion CFA francs since its creation . Over the same period, other structures were created such as the Scpi in real estate, Sampo-Cameroon in IT.
In 2003, the banking group Ecobank s’ settled in Cameroon. André Fotso joined the project and took a leading position among local shareholders. In 2005, he became president of the Board of Directors. In March 2010 , André Fotso bought Cometal, an entity of CFAO and OPTORG groups (Sho-Tractafric), regional leader in steel construction (rolling stock, framework, onshore Maintenance and offshor) . In 2010, all three entities (3T Cameroon, Fme-Gaz, Cometal) were grouped in a TAF Investment Group whose activities were summarized in the acquisition of shares in companies, management services corporate, acquisition and management of real estate.
He has been a member of the inter-Management Group of Cameroon (GICAM) since 2002. His peers quickly realized his commitment to the cause of the company and was elected in 2012.
