Act now or face disaster in Cameroon, aid chief warns

London (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – A separatist conflict in Cameroon that has forced half a million people from their homes is in danger of worsening, the head of a major aid agency has warned, condemning what he called the “international silence” over the crisis.

Jan Egeland, secretary general of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), said the world had underestimated the impact on civilians of the violence that has gripped Cameroon, where entire villages had been burned to the ground.

“I’ve been all over the world, dealing with humanitarian work for many years and I was really shocked by the unbelievable extent of this emergency that is underestimated, underreported and neglected by the international community,” said Egeland.

“There are atrocities every single day against civilians … and the world doesn’t seem to know or want to know about it,” he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation by telephone during a visit to Cameroon.

Long-running tensions in the English-speaking Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon erupted into conflict in late 2016, prompting crackdowns by security forces and leaving 1.3 million people in need of aid, according to the United Nations.

Egeland said the violence had pushed tens of thousands into hiding in the bush without access to food or medical help, and meant nearly a million children could no longer go to school.

But he said there was a danger the situation could worsen.

  1. My Cousin, Appolinaire Wacham Anyigwi, you are Gone shot and Killed on April 7, 2019 by soldiers sent by Paul Biya to kill Southern Cameroonian youths at will. You were no “Amba boy”, yet Yaounde decided that young ones of your age (mid twenties) must be Killed by Mr Biya’s soldiers within the framework of an unprecedented génocide in the History of Southern Cameroons.
Your killers and those who commandeered your death will and must pay in one way or the other.
No person, neither Father, Mother nor an Uncle has any right to take away life.
The evil that men do will for ever live after them
    Rest in perfect peace till…

    1. A patriot, ADAM ASSANA, was murdered in COLD BLOOD on April 24, 2019 in Muyuka by amba terrorists. He was BEHEADED and his body was DISMEMBERED, cut into 17 PARTS AND THESE BODY PARTS WERE DISPLAYED ON THE ROAD by amba terrorists in Muyuka. http://kontripipo.com/adam-assana-the-latest-amba-terrorist-beheading-muyuka-24-apr-2019/

I assume your cousin (an amba terrorist) was neither beheaded nor dismembered, and you people gave him a befitting burial. OF COURSE, HE WAS AN AMBA TERRORIST!!! Mr Adam Assana never had a burial. May his soul rest in perfect peace!

The Cameroon Defence and Security Forces are surgically taking out amba terrorists. It is PREPOSTEROUS AND LYING THROUGH YOUR TEETH to say that Yaoundé has decided that all young Anglophone Cameroonians in their mid twenties must be killed. This your ambazombie nonsense is BASED on and BAKED in LIES. LIES! LIES! LIES!

      1. What was he doing in Ambaland? Was he invited by Ambazonians for peace-keeping duties?

How many Amba boys are killing people in his village in LRC?

Please keep up the pace in chopping them down. This shall continue for 50 years and will only stop when LRC leaves Ambazonia alone.

Please, start killing LRC students and teachers at Universities of Bamenda and Buea.

Locate them in our neighborhoods and take them out.

        1. Where is your humanity? Why murder LRC students and teachers at universities of Bamenda and Buea in cold blood? YOU’RE A DEPRAVED MISERABLE BEAST!!! YOU DEVIL INCARNATE!!!

  2. JAN EGELAND HAS AN UMBLEMISHED REPUTATION FOR EXAGGERATING HUMANITARIAN SITUATIONS ACROSS THE GLOBE, ESPECIALLY AFRICA!!!

Jan Egeland has TIES to Human Rights Watch (HRW) and International Crisis Group (ICG), corrupt, biased, and discredited NGOs. In 2006, he accused Hezbollah (a terrorist group in Lebanon) of “cowardly blending” among civilians. In an interview with Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, he said that Hezbollah and I quote “Hezbollah terrorists HIDE AMONGST THE CIVILIAN POPULATION and which gives the ISRAEL AIR FORCE NO CHOICE BUT TO ATTACK CIVILIAN STRUCTURES”. Thus, based on the logic of his ARGUMENT, the CAMEROON DEFENCE AND SECURITY FORCES are JUSTIFIED in going after amba terrorists who are hiding amongst the civilian population and in ATTACKING CIVILIAN STRUCTURES, like houses, which are being used as COMMAND and CONTROL CENTRES by amba terrorists.

He chairs the United Nations panel on humanitarian access in the war in Syria and he is currently the UN Senior Advisor for Syria. What has he achieved in Syria, where about 1 million people have been killed by Bashar al-Assad, and millions are refugees? Little or no success!!! If emptying his little bag on Cameroon makes him feel better, then we wish him well. HISTRIONICS!!!

THIS WHITE MAN HAS BEEN CRITICIZED IN THE PAST FOR THE WAY HE HANDLES RELIEF (HUMANITARIAN) PROGRAMMES. In 2007, his Norwegian Red Cross donated hundreds of worthless Norwegian Army surplus cargo trucks (M621) to Malawi. Jan Egeland and the Red Cross declared the operation a success, however, the trucks were useless and were more or less scrap metal. In other words, the TRUCKS WERE ABSOLUTELY WASTE EXPORTED TO BE DISPOSED OF BY THE GOVERNMENT OF MALAWI, A POOR THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.

In March 2008, TV2 aired a documentary about the NIGER FOOD CRISIS of 2005-2006 entitled “THE FAMINE SCAM” in which Jan Egeland (then UN Relief Coordinator) was accused of BLUFFING and of BLOWING THE SITUATION OUT OF PROPORTION. SCAMMER!!!

The bottom line is, Jan Egeland is exaggerating the humanitarian situation in Cameroon to attract more funding, more money for his NGO. SMART STRATEGY? SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
